President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind the GOP's "Health Care Freedom for Patients Act" which would replace current ACA premium subsidies with direct deposits of $1,000 to $1,500 into Americans Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Trump says he wants the money to go "directly back to the people" instead of insurance companies. Critics however warn that to get the check,people would be forced into high deductible plans leaving them with significantly higher out of pocket costs
Is this a step toward patient freedom or a plan to gut the ACA?
