Our initial goal of helping one family residing in Barangay Abucayan who lost their roof because of Typhoon Ulysses became an endeavor of supporting the community’s efforts to rebuild their homes.
We came up with Tabang Abucayan on 18 November to help a small community in which more than 400 households were directly affected by the recent typhoons.
We received overwhelming support from family, friends and colleagues that we were able to exceed our fundraising goal:
➡️ Local accounts (47 donors) - Php145,586.95
➡️ Gogetfunding (10 donors) - Php33,186
➡️ Pagasa funding
- Relief drive wave 1 - Php60,000
- Relief drive wave 2 - Php26,000
- Scout Fuentebella relief drive - Php60,000
Relief efforts
✅ 30 November (trapal for immediate shelter for 200 households) - Php101,740
✅ 6 December (relief goods for 250 families) - Php62,047
✅ 20 December (relief goods for 235 families) - Php58,893
✅ 24 December (maternity kits for 20 pregnant and new mothers) - Php7,580
✅ 27 December (kiddie Christmas kits for 302 students of Abucayan Elementary School) - Php17,803.40
✅ 30 December (housing kits for 10 families) - Php76,709.95
Words are not enough to express our sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to and participated in this pursuit. It is truly through working together that we can make a difference.
The calamities brought about by the recent typhoons are just symptoms of a deeper problem. In recent years, these have been made worse by the climate crisis the impacts of which, experts say, will be shouldered by poorer countries more than the rich ones, and by poorer populations more than the rich ones.
While we will continue to help people who will be adversely affected by the climate crisis, it is also important that we become voices of the poor in calling for drastic measures to curb global warming. Let us build and be part of a sustainable society for our children and future generations.
Tabang Abucayan may be a short-term project, but we hope that through this initiative we have touched lives, not only in Abucayan, but also those of people we have reached in one way or another throughout this campaign.
Again, marami pong salamat. Dios mabalos!

Today, 30 December, we distributed housing kits to 10 families in Abucayan, concluding our fundraising drive.
We are truly thankful for your donations. You responded to our call of providing roofs over our kababayans' heads with your compassion and generosity.
With the remaining funds amounting to Php75k that was left from previous relief drives, we were able to provide a starter kit for building back the houses of nine of the most impoverished families in the barangay. Each kit included:
6 colored GI sheets (yero)
4 pcs of 1/2 inch marine plywood
8 pcs 2x2 coco lumber
1/2 kg ordinary nails
1/2 kg umbrella nails
1 pc 8 ft roof ridge
When we started this initiative, we said that we wanted to help only one family, a goal which we were also able to attain by donating 10 GI sheets to them.
Here's to hoping that our relief drive will help the families start 2021 looking forward to getting back on their feet and, when they are already able, even help others in the future.
Thanks again and God Bless all of you good-hearted souls who touched the lives of the families who lost their homes and livelihood due to the recent typhoons.
Cheers to a better 2021 for all of us!

After rescheduling due to the recent inclement weather in the area, on Dec 27, we distributed pamasko kits to the students of Abucayan Elementary School – 302 kids from Kinder to Grade 6 – through the support of Pagasa - People for Accountable Governance and Sustainable Action
The kits contain school supplies that we hope will help the students in their studies.
The kits include writing pads based on grade level, pencils/pens, sharpener, eraser, wooden puzzles for kindergarten students, coloring books for students in Grades 1 and 2, and crayons for students in Grade 3 and below.
Out heartfelt thanks to the teachers, the Barangay Council, and the Britanico family for facilitating the distribution!
It's still the season of giving, and we're distributing the pabahay kits soon. ♥️

Inspired by the relief drive funded by Pagasa - People for Accountable Governance and Sustainable Action in Brgy Abucayan, Goa, Camarines Sur, we thought of helping other disadvantaged communities in the municipality and again reached out to .ph for support.
Scout Fuentebella is an upland barangay, also located in Goa, Camarines Sur. There are 235 families in the barangay with a population of 1,018. Almost all residents, except the barangay captain who owns a comprada in the barrio, live below the poverty threshold.
90% of the population are farmers and farm workers, whose main products are copra and palay. The remaining 10% are informal workers: laborers, domestic workers, etc.
The residents’ future is uncertain after the typhoons damaged their coconut trees and fields. It will take years before they can harvest again from the coconut trees which provide the raw materials for copra.
The barangay is upland so access to food is difficult. There is no regular transportation from the barangay to the center of Goa.
The barangay is one of the most in need and least served in the municipality.
ph sponsored food packs for 235 families in the community. Thanks for enabling us to reach out to our kababayans in Scout Fuentebella.
