Bernardo Carpio is a legendary figure in Filipino folklore—a powerful hero often described as a giant with incredible strength.

🧙‍♂️ Who is he?
Bernardo Carpio is best known in Philippine legends as a man trapped between two huge mountains (or giant rocks) in Montalban, Rizal.

🌏 The famous legend
He was said to be so strong that no one could defeat him.

Through trickery (often involving Spanish colonizers in some versions), he was trapped between two mountains.

According to the myth, earthquakes happen when he tries to break free.

💭 Different meanings of the story
🏔️ Nature myth – explains earthquakes in a storytelling way

🇵🇭 Symbol of freedom – some versions say that when he finally escapes, Filipinos will be free from oppression

🦸 Hero figure – like other epic heroes, he represents strength and resistance

📖 Fun fact
Some Filipino heroes like José Rizal and Andrés Bonifacio were inspired by the legend and even visited the caves linked to his story.
