In the competition, Karmela represented the Stonyhurst International School, her homeschool provider during her Kindergarten year and is currently a grade 1 student of the Occidental Mindoro State College Basic Education Department, where she continues to develop her mathematical skills.

𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
She developed her love for numbers at an early age. According to her mother, Mrs. Karen Camille Garcia, Karmela would often show curiosity about numbers and ask random mathematical questions even while playing.
Behind her success stands her ever-supportive mother, who serves as both parent and coach. Mrs. Garcia works as an accounting staff at DBP and was a former Mathematics Quiz Bee and MTAP contestant in her younger years. Drawing from her own experiences and professional background, she guided and trained Karmela to nurture her daughter’s passion for mathematics and encourage her to join various math competitions.
Ms. Garcia remembers the moment when the results were announced during the competition. A joyful Karmela ran to her mother and exclaimed, “Mom, I win! I win!” It was a proud moment for her as a coach and especially as her mother.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞
Karmela’s journey does not end there. Recently, she achieved another triumph—capping the bronze medal in the Heat Round of the Thailand International Math Olympiad (TIMO) held online last October 19, 2025. She and her mother are now preparing for the final round, with hopes of joining the competition in person in Thailand.
Occidental Mindoro State College also expressed their support and proudly celebrated Karmela’s achievements. The Basic Education Department extends full support for her continuing journey.
Karmela’s remarkable dedication at such a young age serves as an inspiration to fellow young learners to dream big and strive for excellence.

In celebration of Faculty and Employees’ Day on Friday, October 3, 2025, the Office of the President, through Office Order No. 245, s. 2025, hereby suspends classes and work on the said date to give time for the festivities honoring OMSC faculty and employees.

All faculty members and employees are enjoined to join the celebration at the San Jose Campus Gymnasium.

OMSC Basic Education Laboratory reigned supreme and clinched the top spot in the Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 Quiz Bee, driven by the brilliance of 𝐊𝐞𝐧 𝐙𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝐎. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐃. 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐗𝐲𝐳𝐚 𝐒. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧. Guided by their dedicated coaches, Ms. Rossel O. Rosas, Ms. Joanna Gepana, Mr. Romel Nacino, and Mr. Rogelio S. Daduros, the team triumphed over 11 participating secondary schools across the municipality of San Jose.

This remarkable feat stands as a testament to the perseverance, discipline, and excellence nurtured within OMSC. Indeed, your dedication and hard work have truly paid off.
