CLSU-SCF SEMINAR| Spread the Advantages of High-Performance Computing
The CLSU Supercomputing Facility (CLSU-SCF), spearheaded by Dr. Amore A. San Juan and the CLSU Supercomputing Facility Team a groundbreaking seminar, on April 23, 2024, where students, faculty, and staff was meet in the CLSU ICT Research and Development Training Center (CLIRDEC) Building to discuss the relevance as well as advantages of high-performance computing. ๐
Under the theme 'Unleashing the Power: An Introduction to High-Performance Computing (HPC) And Its Diverse Application.' Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President of Academic Affairs, led the charge in embracing innovation, and expressed her appreciation to the almost 300 participants onsite, via Zoom, and through Facebook Live for their enthusiasm and support in embracing HPC's diverse applications. ๐ป
Dr. San Juan discusses her insight about the historical journey and core principles of High-Performance Computing (HPC), stressing its pivotal role in enhancing computational efficiency across data-intensive processes. Complementing this discourse, Engr. Jacky John Felix of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization's Agricultural Mechanization Division (PHilMech) led a thorough discussion of computer simulation techniques such as the Finite Element Method for structural design and the Discrete Element Method for particles that empowering attendees with knowledge on structural design and particle dynamics.
For his outstanding contribution to our seminar and unwavering dedication to advancing knowledge in his field, Engr. Felix has been awarded by two esteemed leaders within our institution - Dr. Nemesio Macabale, Head of CLSU-ISI, and Dr. Amor San Juan, Head of CLSU-SCF.
