The Naga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has issued a weather advisory as it closely monitors two weather disturbances expected to affect the region over the coming days.

After the OCD meeting before noontime today, May 7, 2026, the CDRRMO said it is monitoring Tropical Storm Hagupit (pre-Caloy) and a Low Pressure Area (LPA 05a).

Although current meteorological data indicate that the weather systems are not expected to make direct landfall or pass directly over Naga City, authorities warned that their proximity could still enhance localized weather patterns that may bring moderate rainfall and possible flooding in low-lying communities.

The advisory noted that total rainfall accumulation is projected not to exceed 100 millimeters. However, the amount remains sufficient to trigger localized flooding and affect residents living in high-risk areas.

As part of pre-emptive measures, the city government urged residents to strengthen household preparedness by inspecting and securing roofing materials and loose outdoor objects, cleaning gutters and drainage systems to ensure smooth water flow, and reporting obstructions in creeks and tributaries to barangay officials.

Residents were also advised to prepare emergency kits containing essential items such as flashlights, batteries, and first aid supplies.

Meanwhile, all Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) were directed to activate monitoring protocols for waterways within their jurisdictions, conduct declogging operations in critical drainage areas, and maintain readiness for possible emergency response operations.

The CDRRMO said it will continue to monitor updates from PAGASA and provide further advisories as necessary. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and coordinate with local authorities during emergencies. I via Jason Neola
