Save this checklist before the school year starts 📌

Ayon sa DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2026, ang unang linggo ng klase ay tinatawag na Opening Block.

Hindi pa agad regular lessons ang focus dito. Sa halip, nakalaan ito para sa:
✔ learner orientation
✔ diagnostic assessments
✔ health and safety activities
✔ classroom routines
✔ parent engagement
✔ pagbuo ng positive learning environment

📌 Suggested Activities During the Opening Block

🟢 DAY 1 — Welcome & Classroom Orientation
• Flag ceremony and opening program
• Classroom rules and routines
• Learner profiling and classroom familiarization

🟢 DAY 2 — Diagnostic & Baseline Assessments
• Reading assessment
• Numeracy assessment
• Subject diagnostic tests
• Identification of learning gaps

🟢 DAY 3 — Health, Safety & Wellness Activities
• Child protection orientation
• DRRM and emergency procedures
• Mental health and wellness sessions
• School health programs

🟢 DAY 4 — Parent & Community Engagement
• Parent orientation
• Academic policies and expectations
• PTA organization
• School-home partnership activities

🟢 DAY 5 — Transition to Instructional Block
(optional depending on school schedule)

• Discussion of assessment results
• Learner grouping and interventions
• Goal-setting activities
• Preparation of learning plans

The Opening Block is all about preparing:

✔ positive relationships

before the regular Instructional Block begins.
