The Lost Legacy of Final Fantasy Versus XIII 🌃⚔️

Before it became Final Fantasy XV in 2013, this project was a much darker, Shakespearean tragedy directed by Tetsuya Nomura. Here’s why the "Versus" era still haunts gaming history:

The Fabula Nova Crystallis: Originally, the game was part of a trilogy alongside FFXIII and Type-0. It centered on the Goddess of Death, Etro, and a world where the Lucis royal family could see the "Gate of Souls."

Stella vs. Luna: The original heroine, Stella Nox Fleuret, wasn't just a love interest—she was a direct rival. She and Noctis were both granted powers by Etro, destined to fight a battle neither wanted.

The Tone Shift: The 2006–2011 trailers featured a more aggressive, moody Noctis (with glowing red eyes) and a "fantasy based on reality" set in a modern, Yakuza-inspired Insomnia.

The Rebrand: After 7 years of "Development Hell," the project was handed to Hajime Tabata. The darker supernatural elements were stripped back to create the "Road Trip" story we know as FFXV.
