St. Agustine in Florida
September 8, 1565

Did you know that the oldest continually occupied city in the united states is in the state of Florida? On September 8, 1565 Pedro Meñendez de Avilez landed on the shore of what us now called Matanzas Bay and begun the founding of Presidio of San Agustin, later the settlement would be called St. Agustin, Florida. Built on the site of an ancient Native American village, and near the place where Ponce de Leon, the European discoverer of Florida, landed in 1513 n search of the legendary Fountain of Youth, It has been continually inhabited since its founding....

Gabriela Silang

Maria Josefa Gabriela Cariño de Silang, a Filipina military leader best know for her role as the filipina leader of the ilocano indipendence movement from Spain. She took over from her second husband, Diego Silang after his assassination in 1763 leading her people for four months before she was captured and executed by the colonial government of the Captaincy General of the Phillippines.

Died: September 20, 1763 (vigan)
