The National Lay Council Report to the 16th General Assembly:
The IFI National Lay Council - NLC shared its remarkable milestones with the august body of the 16th General Assembly through its council report, with immense gratitude, a deep sense of fulfillment, and a high level of confidence that the journey of the IFI laity is assured of becoming more empowered, capacitated, and meaningfully rooted in Christ’s discipleship.
Sis. Hazel Maglinte-Joyohoy, carrying the voice of the Trisectoral Organizations and serving as the Chairperson of the NLC, stood before the assembly to deliver the message of the council’s accomplishments, challenges and responses, and significant actions undertaken in the past years.
The fruitful journey of the NLC stands as a living affirmation of the IFI’s strong commitment to participatory ministry, servant leadership, and the continuing mission of building a Christ-centered and prophetic Church. Through unity, faith, and collective action, the laity has become an instrument of hope and renewal in the life of the Church and society.
The laity ministry has been carried through with grace and nourished by the faithfulness of the laity in embracing their sacred ministry, expressed through fruitful sectoral program thrusts and a rewarding life that witnesses the spirit and gift of presence. Guided by the Holy Spirit and strengthened by the enduring vision of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, the laity continues to shine as steadfast partners in mission, proclaiming God’s love through service, compassion, and active discipleship.

Led by the NOMLEC Commiteee created and confirmed by the IFI National Lay Council - NLC Convention during the 16th General Assembly, Guidelines of the election were adopted.
Nominations were made and winners were pronounced after a tallied Manual and Digital Count was officially declared by NomLec.

The IFI National Lay Council - NLC successfully accomplished its mandate in holding its regular triennial convention to carry its proceedings in a standard manner where agendas laid were canonically aligned, inclusive, transparent and balanced during the 16th General Convention of Iglesia Filipina Independiente.
The NLC Chairperson, Sis. Hazel Maglinte Joyohoy called the convention to order and declaration of quorum was reported.
The NLC Secretary, Bro. Carlo Acierto presented a well-crafted record of the minutes of the last triennial convention and the 2023-2026 NLC past actions.
Committees were created and confirmed who played a big role in the overall order of the convention.
NLC Chairperson’s Report was presented and received with appreciation with notable accomplishments and challenges in the leadership being faced with favorable responses.
Our NLC Treasurer, Bro. Ed Musca and our NLC Auditor, Bro. Rommel Bilog, delivered a transparent financial report.
Overall, the plenary proceedings was conducted with due diligence, historic, and professional and a lived up testimony of how the lay sectors of IFI has grown.
Theme: “Sustained by Grace, Nurtured by Faith, Send Forth in Mission” - Ephesians 2: 8-10.

The NLC Officers of TY 2023 - 2026 captured this moment as an expression of readiness to observe the NLC Convention during this 16th General Assembly.
Leadership and Service were loudly demonstrated as they expressed the core call of the laity during their triennial term: “Sabay-sabay na Paglago ng Mga Layko”.

The NLC Chairperson, Sis. Hazel Maglinte-Joyohoy, together with the Obispo Maximo, His Eminence Joel Porlares, and the Commission on Business and Finance Chairperson, Mr. Jerry Navarrete, handed over the Certificate of Appreciation to Very Rev. Eleuterio J. Revillido, S.Th.D., after his remarkable Biblical-Theological Reflection, a work made together with his spouse, Sister Mariefe Ibarra-Revillido, PhD, during the first day of the 16th General Assembly of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente at Puntahan Villa Resort, Iloilo City.

In the next four days, from May 6 - 9, 2026, here at the IFI Cathedral of La Paz, Iglesia Filipina Independiente is set to fulfill its canonical mandate to convene Her people on the 16th General Assembly, united in the theme: “Sustained by grace, nurtured in faith, sent forth in mission.” (Ephesians 2:8-10).
To all the official delegates of this historic event, may the presence of God enlighten, guide, and sustain our hearts and minds in carrying the laid agenda for this assembly.
Let us be devoted in our ministries, and commit to offer ourselves as Iglesia Filipina Independiente continues to live up its mission for God and His people.
