"The Typing"

Lara's eyes snapped to her laptop screen. A message popped up on her blank Word doc:

typing...

She jolted back. Who was typing? She hadn't touched the keyboard. Her heart racing, Lara typed: "Who's there?"

The response was instant:

it's me

Lara's skin crawled. She tried to close the laptop, but the typing continued:

i know what you did

Suddenly, the words shifted, rearranging into a single sentence:

you can't escape

Lara slammed the lid shut, backing away. The typing stopped.

Silence.

Breathing hard, she reopened the laptop. The screen was blank. She typed: "Who are you?"

The response was slow, deliberate:

i am you

Lara screamed. The laptop screen flickered, words appearing on their own:

tomorrow

The laptop went black. Lara ran from the room, but the typing kept going... in her mind.
