๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐!
As we unveil ๐ง๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ this Saturday, 29 November 2025, we invite you to get to know the artist who has guided our local creatives in breathing life into the landscapes of Tabon Cave Complex and Lipuun Point.
Born in Manila on 24 October 1954, Guy Custodio is an artist and painting conservator whose work harmoniously blends contemporary expression with the preservation of the Philippinesโ sacred heritage. He pursued his education at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran and the University of Santo Tomas, later moving to Los Angeles in the 1970s where he studied figurative drawing and music at the Los Angeles City College of Fine Arts, while also working with art and creative institutions.
His artistic journey later brought him to Cadiz, Spain, where he served with the U.S. Navy, before eventually moving to Barcelona. There, he explored painting more deeply, showcased his artworks in local galleries and cafรฉs, and arranged music for both solo artists and bands. He formally trained in antique art restoration and conservation in Barcelona, Salamanca, and Zamora - working on religious objects, furniture, metalwork, antique frames, icons, and oil paintings dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries across monasteries, museums, and diocesan collections.
Upon returning to the Philippines, Maestro Guy became known for revitalizing indigenous and devotional visual traditions, particularly the admired โBohol Schoolโ of painting. He has led major conservation efforts involving retablos, ceiling paintings, and Stations of the Cross in heritage churches across Bohol, Intramuros, Ilocos, Eastern Samar, Cebu, Laguna, and several other historical sites. He has also mounted solo exhibitions in Manila and at the Pinto Art Museum, showcasing works that reinterpret indigenous icons, urnas, and triptychs - many of these projects in collaboration with local dioceses and the National Museum of the Philippines.
Now based in Quezon, Palawan, he continues to paint while serving as a mentor to emerging local artists. As the lead artist behind the first painting exhibition at the National Museum of the Philippines- Tabon Cave Complex, he inspires a new generation to reflect the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of Palawan through art.
