“BLUE ROOM” BECOMES THE FIRST FILIPINO FILM TO WIN AT LA FEMME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL! Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan’s directorial debut “Blue Room” won the Best Foreign Film award at the 19th edition of LA Femme International Film Festival (LAFIFF) last October 22 in Los Angeles.

“Blue Room” is the first Filipino feature film to be awarded at LAFIFF, an annual film festival that showcases films written, directed, and produced by women. It aims to support female filmmakers in the distribution of their films to domestic and international audiences.

The Elijah Canlas-starrer follows a rock band called Rebel Rebel, who gets arrested for drug possession and are brought into a VIP detention area where they must make the difficult choice between freedom or standing up for what they believe in. It was a recipient of CreatePHFilms’ Small Budget Production Fund by the FilmPhilippines Office in 2021.
