Primitivo Kalaw Senior High School (PKSHS) proudly marked todays celebration of the National Studentsโ Month and National Reading Month with a series of engaging literacy performance and activities. This yearโs celebration become even more special as the school welcomed back one of its pioneer teachers, Maโam Mary Rose Calalo, who returned to be as a judge for the Jazz Chant, Choral Reading, and Spoken Word Poetry competitions. Her presence brought the sense of history, gratitude, and inspiration to the whole celebration.
โMaโam Calalo, who played a significant role during the early years of Primitivo Kalaw Senior High School, stated that stepping back into the school felt like revisiting a memorable moment of her life. Upon seeing the Primitivians students, she expressed her amazement on how much they have improved not only in performance and talent but also in the discipline and kindness. She also shared that when she was still teaching at the school, events like these were not yet practiced, making her return become meaningful as she witnessed how far the students, teachers and school have grown.
โ
โAs now a judge, Maโam Calalo observed each performances with both pride and joy. She highlighted how the participants demonstrated confidence, creativity, and genuine passion in the different competition. Whether in the harmony of Jazz Chant, the rhythm of Choral Reading, or the emotions in Spoken Word Poetry, she was impressed by how students embraced literacy and expression in ways she had not seen during her time as a teacher.
โ
โThroughout the event, students and teachers warmly welcomed Maโam Calalo, showing deep respect for her contributions as a pioneer educator. She also shares her sweet memories and knowledge to the students when she was teaching in PKSHS before. Her return served as a reminder that the foundations she and other early teachers built continue to shape the values and achievements of todayโs Primitivians.
โ
โThe celebration ended successfully with a smile on their faces, but with the presence of Maโam Mary Rose Calalo made it truly unforgettable. It strengthened the spirit of unity, growth, and show appreciation for literacy. As Primitivo Kalaw Senior High School continues to celebrate National Students Month and National Reading Month in the years to come, her legacy remains as a guiding light for both students and teachers.

The Batangas Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) awarding ceremony is an event held to commend the excellence of the top and best young journalists in Batangas. But in the blink of an eye, it turned into something unexpected. This DSPC for a young writer like me was like the morning glory of a young girl antagonistic to love.
Among the crowd of magnificent journalists who know each other, I cannot help but silently think of that one person etched on the back of my mind.
.
Like the form of the finest corals this world could offer, ๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ข ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ช๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ด๐ค๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ, a wonder that thrives with life.
In a restless atmosphere where every participant is eager to find out the result, my excitement became a tumultuous sea. Yet, the possibility of meeting him can compare to a phantasmagoria to me, a fantastic world of reckless beauty I was willing to accommodate every time.
I went there as a writer ready to be acknowledged, still this acknowledgement was not enough to reach his center stage.
I was there, in those aligned chairs, ready to receive my award. Yet, he was nowhere to be found. Because in reality, my only key to meet him was to be able to stand in the same league, in the same level of competition called the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC), and to do that, I needed to be in the top three.
, turned into sea foam when she was not able to win the prince's love, the paper meant to hold the story of us turned into a blank page when I was not called to be in the top three. And the story of us meant to be shared became like a wind passing by, a whisper lost in the talk, and a moment that vanished through time.
But I guess this was destined to be, because in a story where the winner rejoices and the loser loses her voice, mine echoed louder.
To tell the tale of a girl who smiled through her loss. Because the loss didn't mean the ending but the beginning.
A beginning of a more ardent, burning story.
Parallel to Ariel's ending, who became the ethereal 'Daughter of the Air' through her selfless love, I ascended, for I knew that my spirit would continue to strive higher through the most selfless act it knew possible.
This story might not have ended with a good ending, but it continued, though not documented in history.
And now, this story will become ๐พ๐๐ง๐ฉ๐ค๐ค๐ฃ| Parents are a studentโs first teachers, and home is where they learn their first lessons. When a parent opens their hands to care for their children, support them, and be a daily guide and inspiration, they become a source of strength and motivation for every child to work hard and pursue their dreams. Thus, it is at home where every student first learns to grow, and where parents learn to gradually let go so their children can follow their own ambitions.

Sounds of laughter and faces of joy are the only murals showcased in the area. People used it to mask the nervousness and anxiety being felt in competing for the Divisions School Press Conference (DSPC). Dozens of participants are filling the whole venue. Everyone is busy talking with their friends, reading news, and reviewing for their competitions. But I? I am busy finding a face I've always been meaning to see whenever I join DSPC. In the sea of the busy crowds colonizing my vision, DSPC seems to always find a way to make him appear and see his smile so I can reminisce how it felt
It is already given that students join journalism so we can bag achievements for ourselves and for our schools, gather knowledge, and realize lessons being given in every type of situation occurring in every schools press conference. However for me, there is another reason why I am pouring my extreme dedication and passion in order to climb that DSPC.
Similar to the millions of stars in the night sky are the crowds I have to encounter to find the brightest star that I always want to see. The possibility of meeting him is like waiting for the rain to pour on a warm sunny day. In every ink exerting by the ballpoint of my pen is the gradual completion of my article and the eventual compacting of hope to make him appear in my sight once again.
After all the prayers and hard work, finally I stepped on the platform of DSPC.
The scarlet pigment suddenly rushed on my cheeks. The atmosphere seemed to become calmer, brighter, and better. My eyes locked on his existence as I recall the mere encounters I had with him. Various thoughts linger around my mind as it replays how I saw him for the first time. The beating of my heart echoes throughout my whole body as I thoroughly observe and capture the scenery I may not be able to see again. But what schocked me entirely is when I realized I was staring for too long.

Like the world revolved in a direction perfectly and everything aligned to its place when the roaming eyes met the static vision of mine.
Time fleet slower, every point of a second seems to create details I shouldn't forget. In a short span of seconds, my pupils dilated and my cheeks were painted like a chameleon as it showcased every shade of red.
