In response to the announced power interruption today, ReGen is officially deployed to support our partner MSMEs in Balanga City.

Today, ReGen, the Rentable Solar Generator for MSMEs, is powering operations at:

🍔 Migoy's Burger PH - Balanga City, Bataan

With the scheduled interruption, these businesses were able to prepare ahead. Through ReGen’s solar backup system, operations continued smoothly without disruption. 🔋✨

This deployment highlights how research and innovation from Bataan Peninsula State University, supported by the Department of Science and Technology, directly benefit local MSMEs in Bataan.

BPSU-CCST – YunTech MOA Signing & Research Collaboration Meeting 🤝✨

The College of Computer Studies proudly held the MOA Signing and Research Collaboration Meeting with the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech), Taiwan. This significant event marked the beginning of a stronger international partnership focused on research excellence, innovation, and advanced technologies in AI, IoT, sustainability, and smart city development.

The ceremony was attended by BPSU administrators, faculty, the ReGen Project team, representatives from the City of Balanga MIS Office, DOST-Bataan, and SIKAT-TBI. The ReGen team also presented the journey and current developments of the project, highlighting its AI-driven carbon offset initiatives and future plans for expansion.

One of the most meaningful parts of the event was the roundtable discussion with Dr. Arun Kumar Sangaiah, Yushan Scholar from YunTech, who shared valuable insights on AI automation, drone-based solar panel diagnostics, multimodal data analytics, and potential smart city applications. The City of Balanga MIS Office expressed strong interest in integrating AI and IoT into the city’s smart governance initiatives, opening promising avenues for collaborative local development.

The discussion also paved the way for future opportunities, including faculty and student exchange programs, research immersion, and scholarship pathways in Taiwan. Dr. Arun warmly welcomed the possibility of hosting BPSU students and faculty in YunTech’s AI laboratory and research centers.

The event concluded with a tour of the CCST Faculty Room and the Dr3am Center, followed by Dr. Arun’s attendance at the Global Blockchain Summit at the Bataan People’s Center, where he met DICT officials to explore additional collaboration possibilities.

This partnership signifies a major step forward for BPSU as it continues to build global alliances, advance research capabilities, and provide transformative opportunities for its academic community. The road ahead is bright, collaborative, and filled with exciting possibilities for innovation and regional development.

The ReGen team, together with our external partners, carefully deliberated on the most strategic path for the official project launch this year. After thorough discussions, we agreed to anchor the launch during the Bataan Start-Up Day, hosted by Bataan PPP in partnership with BPSU.

Positioning ReGen’s launch alongside this event to ensure greater visibility, stronger connections with start-up communities, and access to potential investors and partners, all while maximizing resources.

We also positively noted the invitation from Bataan PPP to join an upcoming TNVS-related event, which opens new opportunities for collaboration and possible pilot applications of ReGen’s technology in mobility and transport enterprises.

🚀 With these strategic moves, ReGen continues its mission of empowering MSMEs through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable solutions.

The Department of Science and Technology , through its Provincial Science and Technology Office in Bataan, officially turned over funding support to the team behind ReGen: Rentable Solar Generator from Bataan Peninsula State University – College of Information and Communications Technology (BPSU-CICT), and Local Government Unit of Balanga through the Management Information Services Office.

This award-winning innovative and sustainable energy solution is designed to complement the City of Balanga’s Smart City initiatives. ReGen offers a portable, renewable energy source that is both scalable and accessible—making clean energy more attainable for communities.

The funding follows ReGen’s recognition as the top winner in the 2024 iDEA+ Reverse Pitching Competition held last April 10–11, 2024 at Isabela Convention Center, Cauayan City, Isabela. iDea+ Reverse Pitching, which is part of the DOST organized International Smart Cities and Communities Exposition and Networking Engagement (iSCENE), is a competition where startups present their ideas to potential investors or partners seeking feedback and potential collaboration.

DOST continues to champion homegrown innovations and technology-driven solutions that drive inclusive and sustainable development across the country.
