𝟭𝟲𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗻 🩺

Filipino physician, patriot, and philanthropist Ariston Bautista Lin was born on February 22, 1863, to Mariano Bautista and Teresa Limpingco in Santa Cruz, Manila.

Bautista earned his 𝘓𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘥𝘰 𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢 degree at the University of Santo Tomas in 1885. He pursued further medical education at the Universidad Central de Madrid, where he obtained the degree of 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢 after presenting his thesis, "Consideraciones Acerca de los Abscesos del Hígado en los Climas Cálidos" (Considerations on Liver Abscesses in Warm Climates) in 1892.

After his involvement in the Propaganda Movement and the Malolos Republic, Bautista joined the faculty of the UP College of Medicine and Surgery in 1907. Considered an expert in clinical medicine and therapeutics, he succeeded William Musgrave as Head of the Department of Medicine from 1916 to 1917, becoming the first Filipino to hold this position.
