If you’re desperate to get on the property ladder but are struggling to save your deposit, take a moment to explore your KiwiSaver options. If you’ve been in a KiwiSaver scheme for more than 3 years, and you meet the relevant criteria, you may be able to withdraw the bulk of your savings to use as a first home deposit. Consider upping your contributions, and talk to your provider about what scheme you should be on – swapping to a more aggressive growth fund could make a big difference (but beware, quicker growth invariably comes with greater risk).
