Technology in Business: Adding Value

By now, the evidence is clear. Technology helps businesses survive and flourish. Mostly, it’s all about finding the companies and products that will work for your business.

Looking for efficiencies, ways to improve your business resilience; means that many businesses are being proactive about moving to mobile solutions to capture and share information.

Last week, I hired a Hybrid and traveled around the North Island of NZ to visit some of our customers. I learnt they didn’t want heaps of new AMS features. It already did much more than they were aware of. I learnt they really just need two things: the product to work for their business and responsive support when they need help.

Sometimes in technology companies you can become engrossed in new feature / product development, rather than improving existing services.

Quinovic’s Franchise Services Manager, Tamsin Watson, thought property owners deserved a better level of reporting on their properties. The solution was simple in theory. If each Quinovic property manager had a mobile app that could pull down live data from the Quinovic system (QPMS), a unique inspection form could be created for each individual property.

Working with the AMS platform, Tamsin and her team built a customised property inspection app for Quinovic property managers.

“AMS pulls every detail and creates a form that’s tailored to the property. The system won’t let managers complete the inspection until they have physically checked each individual item,” she says.

“It puts more power in the property manager's hands,” says Tamsin. “They can access tenant, owner and rent details as well as a complete list of chattel locations. There’s no need to write anything down – just open the app and update your information. It’s a real time-saver.”

The AMS app has been rolled out to all users in the Quinovic group. “Now it’s just part of our business,” says Tamsin.

Changing how you do something is hard. Just changing your mobile device to a later model means that there is new stuff you have to deal with.

I just bought a Galaxy 9+. Very nice ...but...my Jabra earpeice would not work first up (essential for how I work) and another programe I use daily, SideSync, was unavailable on the Galaxy 9. So I had to go to Google and watch several different videos to solve my problems and source a new screen mirroring product.It's all sorted now, but it took effort and patience.

On the up side, I feel good, even a little smug, that I sorted it myself ! So worth it? Yep - better battery life, speed, a beautiful screen, and even better photo options.
