We have just $300 left in our rescue account.

Our kennels are full. We're fighting to keep our doors open while working hard to meet our resource consent requirements. The sensible decision would have been to say no.

But then we saw this mum and her seven puppies.

Knowing how overwhelmed rescues are right now, we spent days trying to work out if there was any possible way to help without compromising the dogs already in our care. We couldn't make any promises until we knew every animal depending on us would still be looked after.

Then we got the call... we had just 24 hours.

That's when we were pointed towards the wonderful Amanda at Woodcote Farms Boarding Kennels and Cattery by Lois. One phone call later, Amanda said yes, and everything fell into place.

Ally and one of our WAGS volunteers headed to meet the family. The moment they saw mum and her babies, every bit of planning, stress and uncertainty disappeared. We knew we'd made the right decision.

We carefully loaded all seven puppies & mumma into the van and made the journey to Woodcote, where Amanda was waiting with open arms to give them the first safe place they'd known.

One little puppy wasn't looking well at all, so she came back to WAGS HQ instead for some extra love and dedicated care. She's already proving she's one tough little fighter.
❤️

Taking on eight more lives when we have only $300 in our account is honestly terrifying.

But how could we leave them behind?

Now we need your help.

These beautiful souls need vet care, vaccinations, parasite treatment, quality food, warm beds, blankets, puppy pads and everything that comes with giving them the fresh start they deserve.

If you can spare even $5, it truly does make a difference. Every donation helps us continue saying "yes" when dogs have nowhere else to go.

Imagine a dog arriving scared, hungry and unsure.

Now imagine weeks later...tail wagging, sleeping peacefully, learning to trust and finally feeling safe.

Then imagine being able to help even more dogs experience that transformation.

That's why we're doing this.

Our beautiful little Sadie is growing up so quickly, and we couldn't be prouder of her. 🩷🐾 - an update from her foster mumma!

Every week she amazes us with how much she's learning. She can now sit, shake paws, and lie down on command, and she's becoming more confident every single day. She's also doing really well being left on her own for short periods and is steadily gaining the weight she needed.

Mealtimes are always entertaining! 😂 She absolutely loves her fish oil and Greek yoghurt... in fact, she carefully digs through her dinner to find the fish oil tablet before she'll eat anything else. Priorities, right? 🤣

Her itchy skin is improving so much, and her beautiful fur is slowly growing back. She's feeling healthier, happier, and more comfortable with each passing day.

One thing we've discovered? This little princess definitely doesn't like cold feet! On chilly days she sometimes insists on having her dinner served on the carpet because the laminate floor is just a bit too cold. Safe to say she might be a little spoiled but we wouldn't have it any other way. 🙈❤️

We've also been working hard on all the important foundations. She's crate trained, patiently sits and waits before meals, and has just started learning to walk on a lead. She's so excited every time the front door opens, ready to explore the big wide world.

Just a little longer until she's fully vaccinated, and then her adventures can really begin. We can't wait to watch this sweet girl discover everything life has to offer. 🐶✨

We'd like to let everyone know that the posts asking for help for the mum dog and her seven puppies was answered by WAGS Rescue yesterday afternoon. ❤️

Mum and her babies are now safe with a WAGS foster and they spent the night getting them settled in. It's been a long couple of days pulling everything together, and we're incredibly grateful that they're finally somewhere they can rest.

We know there were also others working hard behind the scenes to help this little family. It seems the plea for help went far and wide so maybe updates were not shared with everyone.

We'll share a full update later today once we've had a chance to catch our breath and make sure we properly acknowledge everyone who played a part on our end helping along the way and getting them to safety.

Thank you for your patience and for caring so deeply about this beautiful family.🐾

WOW!!! We received the most beautiful surprise, and we just wanted to say a huge thank you. ❤️

Kingsgate School recently dedicated one of their community service days to helping rescue animals, after choosing WAGS because sweet Sadie has become such a loved visitor to their students.

The students came together to donate food, treats, toys, blankets and so many other goodies for our rescue dogs. Knowing that these young people chose to show such kindness and compassion for animals in need is incredibly special.

To every student, teacher and family who contributed thank you. Your generosity means more than you know, and every single donation will help make life a little brighter for the dogs in our care.

It's acts of kindness like this that remind us we're not doing this alone. We have an amazing community standing behind rescue, and we're so grateful.

From all of us at WAGS (and all the wagging tails!), thank you. ❤️🐾

Today isn't about asking. It's simply about saying thank you. To everyone who's donated, shared our posts, cheered us on and just believed in us! 🙏🥰

You're helping make this dream possible.
We couldn't do it without you.🐾

Sometimes people don't donate because they think their amount is too small. The truth?

$2 matters.
$5 matters.
$20 matters.

When kind people come together, incredible things happen.

Never underestimate what your small act of kindness can become 💛💐

Let’s see your cozy dog in this winter weather-pop a picture in the comments!

Behind every fundraising goal is a dog whose life changed forever 🥰🐾

A frightened dog becoming confident.
A neglected dog learning what love feels like.
A forgotten dog finding a family.

This project isn't about buildings.
It's about creating more happy endings like these.

It’s amazing what even just a few days of love, kindness and proper care can do!

“When she had her first bath the water ran almost black! She was scared, starving and far too skinny but i think she knew she was finally safe! Somehow i think they always know things are going to change!” - the kind soul who picked her up

Thank you to all the hands who carried this sweet girl to the safety of her foster home 🫶🏽🐾
