I am going to miss teaching workshops 🥲 but am also super excited to be starting a new chapter and welcoming my first baby in September 👶🏻. I don't know exactly when I'll be back teaching workshops again but I'll definitely keep you all updated. If you're interested in joining a clay jewellery class, now is the time to book. My design process for creating clay earrings 👩🏻‍🎨

Each pair of earrings is individually created as a miniature work of art starting from a sketch and then a prototype is created to test the colours and the composition of the design. I then create a template for the bird’s body that is cut out from a thinly rolled out piece of clay.

The most time goes into the illustration part next where hundreds of tiny pieces of clay are rolled and come together. The process is very similar to creating a painting but made entirely in clay.

A wonderful workshop yesterday at the Franklin Arts Centre 🥰 It always amazes me how well everyone picks up the making process, especially beginner students!
