Skandasana in sanskrit is the posture of the god of war.

When I teach kids I call it Ninja pose, because Skanda means attacker or someone who jumps. Best to think of it as "I got jumped on the way home and they took my wallet". It is someone with tactics that is fast.

Skanda is nickname for the son of Shiva and Agni. Kárttikeya lead Shivas army against the enemies of the gods to save the world.

Rather than thinking of war each time you are in this pose, embrace Kárttikeys meaning: the be brave, active, vigorous and have inspiring courage.

When you practice this pose I invite you to feel brave and be bold.
Without trying, where is the growth? What's the worst that will happen? You fall on you butt - happens even to the best of us.
I invite you acknowledge your stronger than you think, so have the courage to hold the pose. To be curious with your arms, with the extension of your leg and with your relievè.

This pose is from a God that creates destruction and repairs for a better earth.
Play to find your most challenging end point and play to feel the empowerment of your body giving it a go.

Is there anywhere else in your life you can take on curiosity, bravery and courage?
What battles are you fighting in your life?
Can you be bold in your decisions.
Have strength to keep going.
And play (be less serious) in the chaos.
Could you embody one who is respected by the gods to take on all battles?

Spreading my love & gratitude for my whaunu earthbeat family. Thank you for accepting me, holding space, being patient with me & allowing my strengths to shine. Each event gets me out of the house, connected to loving people, experiencing other peoples potent magic & able to share my magic. This weekend feeling the connection to whenua, belonging to sacred earth, dancing under the wetu vibing the beats of who we are. honouring matariki. Matariki is a beautiful time to celebrate an actual real time event. An event connected to the celestial stars & movment. A real time occasion of life & dealth. It was incredible to come together on holiday for the first time to share art, talent, dancing, food, journeying, music & healing. This weekend has been a cycle of grief acknowledging the dead, celebrating who they are, who we are & life. An occasion to reflect, come together with loved ones & plant! An explanation for another day my health & healing journey has been challenging & far from over. Its kept me quite. I want to take time to show appreciation; to My loving Joe, thank you. To Sina, Sadra, Dan, Jenni, Isaac, Sameer & Joe Swamy my heart is so full for you.

I am a teacher of yoga and dance for adults and children alike. I am a qualified social worker & counsellor where I have focused on passionately working with the wellbeing of young people. Among other delicious holistic modalities I am a full time fairy.
