The Expedition Operators Association of Nepal organized a special program today at Hotel Manaslu, Lazimpat, to formally congratulate and extend best wishes to the rope-fixing team assigned for route opening and rope fixing on Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse for the Spring 2026 expeditions.
The program was chaired by Mr. Dambar Parajuli, President of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal. The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Phur Gelje Sherpa, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, and Mr. Sagar Pandey, President of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN).
The program was conducted by Mr. Rishi Bhandari, General Secretary of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal. The Rope-Fixing Coordination Subcommittee for 2026 is being coordinated by Mr. Pemba Sherpa, a member of the Executive Committee. The rope-fixing team is led by Mr. Mingma Tenji Sherpa, who brings extensive experience in high-altitude rope fixing.
The rope-fixing team members are as follows:

To ensure effective communication between Base Camp and Kathmandu, Mr. Babu Sherpa, an Executive Committee Member, has been designated as the Base Camp Coordinator and liaison. Additionally, Mr. Dorjee Ongdak Sherpa, Base Camp Manager and Sirdar of Seven Summit Treks and Expedition, has been appointed as an additional coordinator.
On this occasion, the Presidents of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, TAAN, and the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal jointly handed over a flag bearing the logos of the Government of Nepal, the Department of Tourism, and the Expedition Operators Association to be symbolically placed at the summit.
Addressing the program, Mr. Phur Gelje Sherpa emphasized the importance of carrying out route opening and rope fixing in a safe, reliable, and professional manner. Similarly, Mr. Sagar Pandey highlighted the global significance of Mt. Everest and stressed the importance of ensuring safety and responsibility throughout all expedition activities. He further noted Nepal’s immense tourism potential and underscored the vital role of Sherpas, particularly climbing Sherpas, as representatives of the nation, emphasizing the need for appropriate recognition and support from the state.
Furthermore, it was acknowledged that Mr. Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Executive Committee Member of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal and Director of Seven Summit Treks and Expedition, has provided significant support to the climbing team by supplying essential equipment such as down suits and climbing boots, ensuring that the team is well-equipped for the ascent.
In his remarks, Mr. Dambar Parajuli expressed appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and integrity demonstrated by Sherpa guides in mountaineering over the years. He stated that Nepal’s mountaineering sector has been built upon the significant contributions of the Sherpa community, whose role remains fundamental to its continued success.
