The Bluegrass Journeymen
Andy Reiner and Daniel Chouinard just spent three weeks arranging and conducting a Bluegrass for Orchestra” program at the Gandhi Ashram School, Kalimpong in India on behalf of The Bluegrass Journeymen Academy and the results have been amazing! We are so proud of everyone’s hard work
From Andy… “I am ultra mega ridiculously monumentally proud of this one. As far as I can tell, nobody has arranged a full bluegrass song for student string orchestra where the students trade off playing different roles of a bluegrass band as well as sing 3 verses of a song. These students from Kalimpong, India really stepped it up and set the bar high for a singing orchestra. I will probably have to show students in the USA this performance to get them to sing out more. I did not expect to make this arrangement, but circumstances provided the opportunity and I am thrilled with this result. What do you think - can string orchestra be a bluegrass band?”
