With the support of IOM Nepal and coordination of People Forum, the two-day legal training to police officers- responsible for investigation of human trafficking cases organized by the Anti Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau (AHTB) has been successfully completed today. SSP Krishna Pageni head of AHTB and Helene Fors, head of mission of IOM Nepal had attended the program as speaker. Mr Sanjib Regmi deputy attorney general, IOM staff and legal experts had delivered the sessions. The event was conducted at Dhulikhel Lodge Resort in Kavre.
The training had covered topics such as the concepts of human trafficking, migration and human smuggling, the current situation and trends of human trafficking–related crimes and challenges, the rights of victims within the criminal justice system, introduction of human-trafficking laws, the Foreign Employment Act as well as issues related to business and human rights and gender-based violence. 25 police officers of Kathmandu valley had participated in the program.

"Successful completion of Capacity Building Training on Access to Justice for Judicial Officials"
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of a two-days legal training session held on August 1-2, 2025, at Club Himalaya Hotel, Nagarkot. This initiative has organized by People Forum for Human Rights and supported by IOM with financial support of the European Union, the Government of Sweden.

The training has focused on enhancing access to justice and attended by key officials from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS), Foreign Employment Tribunal, Department of Foreign Employment, Special Government Attorney Office, Anti Human Trafficking Bureau (AHTB), Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, District Police Range Kathmandu, Foreign employment tribunal bar association and representatives from People Forum for Human Rights.

This collaborative effort has contributed to strengthen capacity of judicial officials and promote access to justice for migrant workers. We thank all participants and partners for their commitment to this important cause.

On June 23, 2025, the Orientation for Lawyers on Pro Bono Legal Services for the Protection of Migrant Workers in Foreign Employment was successfully held for the lawyers of the District Bar Unit Morang at the Bar Hall in Biratnagar. The event gathered participants to discuss ways to ensure justice and provide support for victims of foreign employment. It concluded with the adoption of the Biratnagar Declaration.which strengthen commitment for pro bono legal service to migrant worker's The program was organized by People Forum for Human Rights, coordinated by the District Bar Unit Morang, and supported by IOM Nepal.
