One of the most fascinating aspects of the pinball industry is the culture of hidden details and inside jokes that found their way into games without management always knowing. Today we would call them “Easter eggs,” but long before that term became popular, designers, artists, and programmers were already leaving their personal signatures behind.

Some of the most famous examples are the hidden cows that appeared in Bally/Williams machines, known only to those on the inside. But these secret touches were not always company-wide jokes. Sometimes they were much more personal—small tributes to family members, friends, or colleagues that became part of pinball history.

That brings us to a special visit to our museum. Parker Brown, the son of Duncan Brown, recently stopped by. Duncan is a software programmer in the pinball industry and, like many of his colleagues, contributed to the games that entertained millions of players around the world.

Stories like these remind us that pinball machines are more than just games. Behind every title are talented people who often found creative ways to leave a little piece of themselves in their work. Whether it was a hidden cow, a secret message, or a subtle family reference, these details continue to connect generations of pinball enthusiasts and the people who built the machines we love today.

This video celebrates one of those personal connections: Parker Brown visiting the museum and sharing a link to his father’s legacy in pinball.
