Stay With Me
When we learn about the signs of human trafficking or encounter someone who may be experiencing exploitation, it’s easy to assume we know what’s going on and what they need.
But one of the biggest pitfalls in this work is acting on our assumptions. What you think you see, or what you think she needs, may not be what she needs at all.
That’s why we need systems that are flexible enough to meet people where they are and respond to what they actually need.
For anyone learning about or encountering victims of trafficking, remember this:
Listen before you act.
Ask before you assume.
Know your resources.
