TECH SUPPORT SCAMS!!!

A tech support scam is when scammers call, message, email or use pop-ups to convince you there’s an issue with your device that can be fixed for a fee.

TAKE NOTE OF THESE:

1. These scammers pose as staff from legitimate companies.

2. They want you to believe there is a problem with your device.

3. They even use tactics such as manipulating your cursor.

4. Their end goal is to gain access to your info and money

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO AVOID TECH SUPPORT SCAMS?

1. Educate yourself: Look into the technical support that’s available to you and how it works so you’re not caught off-guard. No legitimate tech support will ever contact you without you contacting them first.

2. Double-check messaging: Always inspect the messaging of someone reaching out to you and offering any kind of technical support. Look out for bad spelling, incorrect grammar or strange language.

3. Never send money: Never hand over your credit card info or send money using a money transfer app. These kind of transactions can be very difficult to reverse.

4. Avoid unknown links: Don’t click or call any numbers sent to you by someone you don’t know, even if you recognize the name of the organization they claim to be from.
