EMEM BOB LAUDS GOV UMO ENO'S FISCAL TRANSPARENCY, SEEKS STAKEHOLDERS' INPUT ON 2027–2029 MTEF

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Emem Almond Bob, has commended Governor Umo Eno for sustaining the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), describing the initiative as a key driver of fiscal transparency, prudent financial management and improved budget implementation in the state.

Speaking during the Public Consultation on the 2027–2029 Akwa Ibom State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) held at the ICT Centre, Office of the State Accountant-General, Uyo, on Thursday, the Commissioner said the consultation was in compliance with the State Fiscal Responsibility Law and designed to provide citizens and stakeholders the opportunity to contribute to the preparation of the state's medium-term fiscal plan.

Mr. Bob noted that the MTEF serves as the foundation for the 2027 budget and enables the government to make realistic revenue projections, improve inter- and intra-sectoral resource allocation, and ensure the efficient utilisation of public resources.

He congratulated Governor Umo Eno PhD for maintaining the MTEF framework, stating that the Governor's commitment to financial transparency, accountability and the implementation of the ARISE Agenda has continued to earn Akwa Ibom commendable budget implementation and fiscal performance ratings.

The Finance Commissioner also praised the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Dr Nsikak Nkan and other stakeholders for successfully coordinating the MTEF process and preparing the draft document for public scrutiny and input.

He expressed optimism that recommendations from the consultation would strengthen government spending plans, align them with macroeconomic policy objectives and further advance the implementation of the ARISE Agenda for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people.

NBTE CONCLUDES THREE-DAY ACCREDITATION EXERCISE AT COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, OBOHIA NDOKI

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has successfully concluded a three-day accreditation exercise at the College of Nursing Sciences, Obohia Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, as the institution seeks full accreditation for its Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme.

The comprehensive assessment, which lasted three days, saw the NBTE accreditation team thoroughly evaluate the College's academic resources, clinical training facilities, laboratories, library, classrooms, administrative structures, staff strength, entrepreneurship department and other support services to determine the institution's compliance with the Board's prescribed standards for HND Nursing education.

The accreditation exercise marks another significant milestone in the College's steady growth, following its earlier success in securing accreditation for its National Diploma (ND) Nursing Programme. The outcome of the exercise is expected to further strengthen the institution's capacity to produce highly skilled and professionally trained nurses capable of meeting National and global healthcare needs.

Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Godwin Umontuen, expressed appreciation to the NBTE team for its professionalism and thoroughness throughout the assessment. He reaffirmed the College's unwavering commitment to maintaining high academic standards, investing in quality infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.

Dr. Umontuen noted that the management and Governing Council remain dedicated to ensuring that the College continues to meet national and global best practices in nursing education, adding that the institution has made substantial investments in modern facilities, qualified personnel, and clinical partnerships to guarantee quality training for students.

He further expressed optimism that the College had demonstrated adequate compliance with the NBTE requirements and looked forward to a favourable outcome that would position the institution among Nigeria's leading colleges of nursing sciences.

The successful conclusion of the accreditation exercise reflects the College's determination to advance healthcare education and contribute meaningfully to the development of competent nursing professionals for the nation's health sector.

‎Team Elder Kingsley Johnny maintained their unbeaten run with another 1–0 victory over Team Elder Godwin Udonsek. The kick-off was taken by Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan, Immediate Past Permanent Secretary, Government House.

‎Team TPL Itiat defeated Team Hon. Nda Nda 4–2 via penalties with TPL Itiat pulling the decisive penalty save, securing a place in the championship final.
