Umo Eno’s Aide Blasts Ata Ikiddeh, Defends Udom Emmanuel Over “Baseless Attacks”

A fiery political exchange has erupted in Akwa Ibom as Essien Ndueso, Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, took a direct swipe at Ata Ikiddeh, accusing him of sustained attacks on former Governor Udom Emmanuel.

In a strongly worded statement, Ndueso faulted what he described as “irresponsible and needless attacks” on leaders of the state, questioning Ikiddeh’s constant criticism of the former governor despite professing support for Governor Umo Eno.

He particularly dismissed the controversy surrounding Udom Emmanuel’s alleged use of a private jet, insisting that the former governor reserves the right to conduct his private business using any means of transportation he deems fit.

“What really is your pain in Mr. Emmanuel hiring a private jet or any other means of transportation in attending his private business?” Ndueso queried, framing the criticism as unnecessary and politically motivated.

The aide went further, linking Ikiddeh’s stance to what he described as personal frustration, alleging that his inability to secure a media consultancy role during Udom Emmanuel’s administration may have fueled the continued attacks.

“You cannot claim to support the present administration while constantly throwing jabs at a former leader just to create tension,” he said, warning that such conduct does not align with the values of the current government.

Ndueso also took a broader jab at what he called a growing trend of political antagonism, stressing that no one earns relevance in government by insulting leaders or elders.

He urged Ikiddeh to “put an end to the childish bad blood,” calling for a more constructive and respectful political discourse in the state.

Ministry Warns Private Schools Against Early Resumption

The State Ministry of Education has warned private primary and secondary schools against resuming academic activities ahead of the officially approved date for the third term.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Professor Ubong Essien Umoh, issued the warning following reports that some private schools intend to reopen on Monday, April 13, 2026, in violation of the state’s harmonized school calendar.

According to the Ministry, the official resumption date for the third term of the 2025/2026 academic session remains Monday, April 20, 2026, and is binding on all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

In a statement signed by Mr. Abasiama Inyang, Director covering duties for the Permanent Secretary, the Ministry directed all school proprietors and administrators to strictly comply with the approved calendar.

The statement warned that any school found operating before the stipulated date would be considered to be in breach of state regulations and would face appropriate sanctions.

Parents and guardians were also advised to keep their children and wards at home until the official resumption date.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining standards and ensuring uniformity in the academic calendar across the state.
