APC Governorship Primary: Nsima Ekere Hails Peace, Unity, Governor Eno’s Performance
Victor Oton
A former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere, has described the ongoing governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as peaceful, orderly, and a reflection of the overwhelming support for Governor Umo Eno ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the APC governorship primary in Edemeya Ward 1, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Ekere expressed satisfaction with the conduct of party members, noting the high level of enthusiasm and unity displayed by supporters who turned out for the exercise.
According to him, the large turnout and show of solidarity for Governor Eno were a demonstration of appreciation for the developmental projects currently ongoing in the ward and across the state.
He disclosed that earlier in the day, he visited some of the projects being executed by the governor in Adamaia Ward 1, including a modern primary school nearing completion, as well as an ongoing road project in the area.
“What is happening here today is our people’s way of telling the governor thank you for all he has done for us.
We are reaffirming our support for him to return for a second term because if he has achieved this much in his first term, we believe he will do even more in another four years,” he stated.
Ekere further commended Governor Eno for fostering peace and unity in the political landscape of the state, noting that politicians from different political backgrounds are now working together for the progress of Akwa Ibom.
“The significant thing that has happened is that the governor has brought peace into the politics of this state.
People who had not been in the same political family for years can now come together and work in unity for the peace and progress of our people,” he added.
On what would form the major campaign message for Governor Eno’s second-term bid in the senatorial district and Ikot Abasi area, Ekere maintained that the governor’s projects and achievements would remain the strongest campaign tool.
“The governor is seeking a second term purely on merit and based on what he has done.
All we need is to catalogue the numerous projects across the wards and local governments. There is more than enough to justify another term in office,” he said.

✍️ _Henshaw NYONG_
The All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State is set for another historic moment as Governor Umo Eno heads into today's governorship primary election unopposed amid growing unity and stability within the party across the State.
The governorship primary, scheduled for 2pm, will hold simultaneously in all the 329 ward centres across the State, according to a notice issued by the State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo.
Since the commencement of the primary elections last Saturday with the House of Representatives exercise, followed by the Senatorial primaries on Monday and the House of Assembly primaries on Wednesday, the APC in Akwa Ibom has witnessed an unusual atmosphere of consensus, orderliness and party cohesion, a development many stakeholders have attributed to the leadership style of Governor Eno as leader of the party in the State.
Across the 31 local government areas, party faithful, stakeholders, women and youth groups have continued to express confidence in the State Chief Executive, insisting that his inclusive leadership, infrastructural development drive and people-centric ARISE Agenda have strengthened unity within the APC and repositioned the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, several stakeholders across the State, including some leaders from opposition circles, who spoke ahead of Thursday’s governorship primary, expressed confidence that the exercise would further validate Governor Umo Eno’s broad acceptance and rising political goodwill, as support continues to grow across party lines for the continuity of his administration and the sustained implementation of the ARISE Agenda.
