I woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of burning refuse, mostly plastic, around the neighborhood. It was so strong that I had to close the windows to stem the smell.

Several questions permeated my mind. Who the perpetrator is, why the unguided act, the effects on humans and the environment, and, more importantly, when humans will stop being hostile to one another in thought and deeds, be it deliberately or unconsciously.

To the perpetrator, he's keeping his premises clean. To the environment, pollution. To human health, respiratory infection, and lung problems. To the climate, ozone layer depletion. All of which compound health, environmental, and social problems for mankind.

Many are in the hospital suffering because of this singular unguided act that compounds over the years.

Dear you.

For every waste you set on fire, you simply deposit health challenges on yourself, your families, your neighbors, and mankind.

Make use of the waste pickers for proper disposal.

Practice the 7Rs of waste management (Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Research, and Regulate) Heaven and earth will clap for you.

Take note so that you don't have more bloodstains on your garment.
