🚨From Critic to Envoy? Senators Clash Over Omokri as Questions Rise About Tinubu’s True Intent

The Senate is sharply divided over President Tinubu’s surprise nomination of Reno Omokri as ambassador — a man who, until recently, was one of his fiercest critics. Reports say heated arguments over Omokri’s past comments about Tinubu have split lawmakers so deeply that even their internal WhatsApp group was shut down.

While some senators believe the appointment is a gesture of “forgiveness” and political inclusion, others insist it threatens Nigeria’s diplomatic credibility, citing Omokri’s history of controversial statements and public confrontations. Civil society groups and regional blocs have also demanded the withdrawal of his nomination, calling it a dangerous political gamble.

With both supporters and detractors digging in, Omokri’s nomination now looks less like a diplomatic appointment — and more like a high-stakes political chess move whose real motive remains unclear.

🚨Bandit Attacks Surge Across Kwara, Kano & Nasarawa Despite Intensified Military Operations

Nigeria witnessed a fresh wave of kidnappings as 20 people were abducted across Kwara and Kano between Monday night and Tuesday morning, barely 24 hours after 38 worshippers and 24 Kebbi schoolgirls regained freedom in earlier rescue operations.

In Kwara, about 30 gunmen stormed Isapa community, abducting 10–11 victims, including children, nursing mothers and a pregnant woman. Homes were riddled with bullet holes, sparking fear in a region hit by three major attacks in one month.

President Bola Tinubu has ordered a 24-hour security cordon and expanded Air Force surveillance across Kwara, Niger and Kebbi forests.

In Kano’s Biresawa and Tsundu villages, 10 residents, mostly women and girls, were kidnapped during a nighttime raid.
In Nasarawa, a church crusade ended abruptly after suspected bandits attacked a nearby community, injuring one person.

The Presidency insists no ransom was paid for the earlier release of 38 Kwara worshippers, saying the DSS and military negotiated strategically to avoid civilian casualties.

While security forces continue intensified search-and-rescue missions, fear is rising across rural communities as bandits escalate attacks despite ongoing military pressure.

🚨Tensions in Abuja: Wike vs Naval Officer Sparks National Debate

A viral video showing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in a heated face-off with a naval officer over a disputed plot of land in Abuja has ignited widespread reactions across Nigeria.

Wike accused the officer of blocking FCTA officials from enforcing a stop-work order on land allegedly owned by ex-Naval Chief Awwal Gambo, declaring that “no one is above the law.” The officer insisted he acted under orders, triggering a fiery exchange.

Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka condemned Wike’s language as “unbecoming of a public official,” urging him to apologise, while activist Omoyele Sowore accused Wike of a history of impunity and protecting corrupt elites.

Political influencer Zara Onyinye, however, defended Wike, arguing that the military had overstepped by meddling in civil matters and that “the FCT Minister is the President’s direct appointee — the highest civilian authority in the territory.”

Retired generals, including ex-Army Chief T.Y. Buratai, warned that Wike’s conduct undermines the military’s integrity, while civil groups called for due process rather than power shows.

The Navy has yet to issue an official response, but the altercation has reignited questions about civil-military relations, rule of law, and political accountability in Nigeria’s capital.
