What happens to the blood during Embalming🤔?
When we embalm, we actually drain the blood out completely. Yes! 😲
We replace it with a preservative fluid known as Formaldehyde (Formalin) that firms up the muscles to keep the body looking natural and to stop it from changing color. 😲
It’s more like fixing the tissue in place so the person looks peaceful for their family.
Just Imagine that the human body is like a beautiful House, and the blood is like the water running through the pipes.
When a person d!es, the (heart) which pumps blood stops working, and the water in the pipes starts to get old and messy.🥲
If we leave it there, the house won't stay beautiful for very long time.
An Embalmers job is like a very special kind of 'House cleaning'
In most Mogue, they use a special machine that acts like a temporary Heart,🫀
the clean preservative fluid (Formalin) goes inside through the pipe and pushes the old, tired blood out through a different pipe. 😌
We don't keep the old blood, it goes away safely, just like when you wash dirt off your hands and it goes down the drain.
The Formalin is like a shield that stays inside to keep the person's skin looking soft and peaceful,
So their family can see them one last time and remember them just as they were when they were happy.😊🥲
Someone will ask again,
Why can't we just leave the blood inside?
Blood is mostly water.💦
If it stays inside after the heart stops, it pools and turns the skin dark blue or purple. Removing it is the only way to make the person look natural and healthy for the funeral service. 🤷😌
