(By Madu Barth, Port Harcourt)---- The people of Ikuru Town, in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have called on the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Security(DSS),Mr Adeola Ajayi to order a thorough investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a Mr Yahaya Farouk Umar, Youth Corps member,Mr Yahaya Farouk Umar, posted to the Community Secondary school, but allegedly recruited in the service of a Chinese firm, known as LDM Mining Company limited, said to be operating along the Atlantic shores in the community. The community which expressed concern over the incident, raised alarm over alleged plots by some individuals to thwart the process of an unbiased investigation by influencing and compromising the security officers currently involved in the matter. The position of the Community which was contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary of Ikuru Town Council, Friday Paul Amamino and made available to journalists, said there were attempts to conceal the truth, mislead the unsuspecting members of the public and impede justice over the unfortunate incident. The Community, which condemned the ugly incident, specifically accused the former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Chief Tele Ikuru, and the suspended Paramount Ruler of Ikuru Town, King Aaron Miller Ikuru, Clement Ngboawaji and LDM Mining Company of unlawful intimidation and arrest of some youths and elders in community to settle political scores. "On the 15th of October 2024, Our community was taken aback by the sudden mysterious disappearance of a youth Corps member, Mr Yahaya Farouk Umar who was posted to our Secondary School, the sad news was disclosed by the School Principal, Mr Anderson Awajiogbana who informed the community that the corps member had a part-time job with LDM Mining Company."
