Vlexia Consults is an early years consultation agency providing expert childcare consulting, educational program development, and staff training to schools and daycare centers in Nigeria. 1. What Are the SDGs?

The SDGs build upon the success of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which ran from 2000 to 2015, but they take a broader, more inclusive approach to development. While the MDGs focused largely on reducing poverty, hunger, and disease, the SDGs cover issues like economic inequality, climate action, sustainable cities, clean energy, and justice for all. They also emphasize the importance of partnerships and the role of individuals, communities, and governments working together.

2. The 17 SDGs at a Glance

Goal 1: No Poverty - Eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.90 a day.

Goal 2: Zero Hunger - End hunger, achieve food security, and promote sustainable agriculture.

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages.

Goal 4: Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning.

Goal 5: Gender Equality - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation - Ensure access to safe water and sanitation for all.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy - Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth - Promote sustained, inclusive economic growth, and decent work for all.
