Thank you for taking out time to read this article.

Today I will be talking about some of the reasons why siblings and relatives kill themselves and render their wives widows in Nigeria.

There is a prevailing phenomenon in Nigeria where siblings and relatives plan and in fact cause the deaths of their fellow siblings and relatives and thereby rendering wives as widows.

The reasons for such situations are many, however, their are a few I would like to talk about today.

First, lack of love among siblings and relatives is a major cause of this sad occurrence. When siblings are not taught to love each other from a tender age, they end up growing up to dislike themselves and can easily do harm to each other when there is a slight provocation. Parents need to teach their children to be loving to each other from a very young age to avoid hatred when they are grown up.

Secondly, envy, greed and jealousy are very serious factors that influence hatred and killings among siblings and relatives. When some siblings seem to be wealthier than others, there is the tendency of the poor ones doing evil to the richer ones. Also, the growing trend of ritual killings have also influenced killings amongst siblings and relatives. There is need for parents and societal leaders to show good examples and teach our younger people the right values.

When these deaths occur, there are many women who are rendered widows and many children are left fatherless r orphaned. We can reduce the increasing number of widows in Nigeria if we imbibe the right values in our young people.

This is part of the efforts of my foundation. We try to educate women and especially widows on the need to train up their children to imbibe the right values.
