✝️ 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧: 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧'𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘?

Catholics and Protestants share many core Christian beliefs. Both believe in the Holy Trinity, the divinity of Jesus Christ, His Death and Resurrection, and the authority of Sacred Scripture. However, there are important differences in doctrine, worship, and Church authority.

Understanding these differences can help us appreciate our own faith while treating others with charity and respect.

✝️ 𝟭. 𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬

• Catholics recognize Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church (the Magisterium).

• Most Protestants hold that the Bible alone is the final authority for Christian faith and practice.

The Catholic Church believes Christ entrusted His teaching authority to the Apostles and their successors.

✝️ 𝟮. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗨𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧

• Catholics believe the bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Christ.

• Many Protestant communities understand Communion primarily as a symbolic memorial, though some hold other views.

For Catholics, the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.

✝️ 𝟯. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦

• The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments instituted by Christ.

• Most Protestant communities recognize only Baptism and the Lord's Supper, while some understand them differently.

The sacraments are channels through which Christ gives His grace.

✝️ 𝟰. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗬

• Catholics recognize the Pope as the successor of St. Peter and the visible head of the Church on earth.

• Protestants generally do not accept papal authority.

Catholics believe Christ entrusted Peter with a unique pastoral role.

✝️ 𝟱. 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗦

• Catholics honor Mary and ask for the intercession of the saints.

• Most Protestants do not pray for the saints' intercession and place less emphasis on Marian devotion.

Catholics worship God alone while honoring those who faithfully followed Christ.

✝️ 𝟲. 𝗔𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡

• Catholics believe the bishops have received authority through an unbroken line from the Apostles.

• Most Protestant communities do not claim apostolic succession in the Catholic sense.

This succession helps preserve the Church's teaching and sacramental ministry.

✝️ 𝟳. 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣

• Catholic worship is centered on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Eucharist.

• Protestant worship often emphasizes preaching, Bible study, and congregational singing.

Both seek to glorify God, though their forms of worship differ.

✝️ 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥

Catholics and Protestants share faith in Jesus Christ, but they differ on several important teachings that have developed since the Protestant Reformation.

As Catholics, we should know our faith well, explain it with charity, and always speak the truth in love.

"That they may all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I in You." (John 17:21)
