This one genuinely heartbreaking part of wrestling history that deserves to be told properly. Owen Hart died on May 23 1999 during a stunt entrance that went wrong — he fell over 90 feet into the ring because the rigging failed.
WWF made the call to keep the show going that night, and fans in the building weren't even told what had happened until later. His family ended up settling a lawsuit with the company for 18 million dollars.

What gets me is something Bret Hart said years later — that WWE basically sealed away Owen's matches, and he just wants people to remember his brother for how good he actually was in that ring, not just for how he died. Seems like the right way to think about him. 💔
