Living the Gospel: A Higher Calling Than Owning an Expensive Bible
As we navigate the uncertainties of life, we must never neglect the anointing upon us and the great commission God has given us. Preaching the gospel is not about possessing an expensive Bible but about living out its message daily. The lives of Joseph, Jephthah, the Good Samaritan, and Jesus Christ Himself serve as powerful examples of how our actions, not just our words, can proclaim the gospel to the world.
Joseph’s Forgiveness: A Life that Preaches Mercy
Joseph’s life in Egypt (Genesis 45:1-15) was a testimony of God's grace and forgiveness. Despite being betrayed and sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph chose love over revenge. When he had the power to punish them, he instead embraced them, providing for their needs. His life demonstrated the gospel in action—showing that God's love is greater than human failings. Today, our lives must reflect this same mercy. The world listens more to the message we live out than the words we speak.
Jephthah’s Love for His Kindred: A Heart of Sacrifice
Jephthah’s story (Judges 11) reveals the power of perseverance and love despite rejection. Though he was cast out by his own people, he did not turn his back on them when they needed him most. Instead, he risked his life to deliver them from their enemies. His actions teach us that true gospel preaching is seen in selfless service. We are called to love, not just those who love us, but even those who have wronged us. This is how we make Christ known in a world filled with hatred and division.
The Good Samaritan: Love in Action
The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) teaches that true Christianity is not about religious status but about genuine love. While the priest and Levite ignored the wounded man, the Samaritan—an outsider—stopped to help, showing that the gospel is best preached through acts of kindness. People may not always read the Bible, but they will read our lives. If we neglect the anointing upon us and fail to demonstrate God’s love, we miss the opportunity to fulfill the great commission.
Jesus’ Sacrifice on Calvary: The Ultimate Gospel Message
Jesus' death on the cross (John 3:16) is the greatest example of love and sacrifice. He bore the sins of humanity, choosing suffering so that we might have life. His sacrifice was not just words—it was an act of redemption. He calls us to carry our own cross, living selflessly and spreading His love to the world. The gospel is not just to be spoken—it is to be lived.
The Great Commission: Our Life’s Purpose
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands us to go into the world and make disciples. This is not a calling for a select few but for all believers. The anointing upon us is meant to impact others, not remain dormant. Owning a costly Bible means little if we do not live by its words. True gospel preaching is found in how we treat others, how we forgive, how we serve, and how we love.
Conclusion: A Living Testimony
As we journey through life, facing its uncertainties, let us not neglect our divine calling. Like Joseph, let us forgive. Like Jephthah, let us love our people. Like the Good Samaritan, let us show kindness. And like Jesus, let us be willing to sacrifice for the sake of others. This is how we truly preach the gospel—not just by reading from an expensive Bible, but by living its truth every day.
