Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria
At Job Anchor, we believe that one of the strongest pillars of any democracy is opportunity.
A nation thrives when its citizens are safe, when businesses can operate confidently, when electricity supports productivity, and when leaders are accountable to the people they serve.
As we celebrate June 12, we join millions of Nigerians in hoping for a future marked by security, good governance, economic growth, and opportunities that empower individuals and communities.
Together, let's continue working towards the Nigeria we all want to see.

Happy Children’s Day
We were all children once, full of dreams, ideas, and possibilities.
Today, we celebrate the dreams, curiosity, and endless potential that every child carries.

When recruiters ask for “relevant experience,” they’re not always asking for someone who has done the exact job before.
What they’re really looking for is alignment.
Relevant experience means your past roles, responsibilities, or skills connect directly to what the job requires. It’s about how well your experience prepares you to perform in that role, not just where you’ve worked.
For example, if a role requires communication, problem-solving, or project coordination, any experience where you’ve demonstrated those skills becomes relevant, even if your job title was different.
This is why understanding job descriptions is important.
It helps you position your experience in a way that makes sense to the recruiter.
Instead of asking, “Have I done this exact job before?”
Ask yourself, “What have I done that relates to this role?”
Take a moment to review your CV today. Are you highlighting the experience that truly matches the roles you’re applying for?

One of the easiest ways to improve your job search is to give it structure.
Instead of applying randomly, set a weekly application goal.
It could be 5, 10, or even 15 roles. What matters is consistency.
This helps you stay focused, track your progress, and avoid burnout.
This week, set a realistic target and commit to it.

“I’m qualified, but no one is responding.”
It’s a common frustration, and in many cases, the issue isn’t your experience.
Before your CV ever reaches a recruiter, it often goes through an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). This system scans your CV for specific keywords, structure, and relevance to the job description. If your CV doesn’t match what the system is looking for, it may not be shortlisted even if you’re a strong candidate.
This means your CV might be filtered out before a human ever sees it.
Understanding how ATS works isn’t about changing who you are; it’s about presenting your experience in a way the system can recognise and process.
Sometimes, it’s not about being unqualified. It’s about being unseen.

Here’s a simple tip for this week:
Don’t wait too long before applying for a job.
Many roles start receiving applications immediately after they’re posted, and in some cases, recruiters begin reviewing candidates early.
Applying sooner gives your application a better chance of being seen before the volume builds up.
This week, try applying as early as possible when you find a role that fits.
