In my practice as a marketing coach, one of the most common fears I see entrepreneurs facing is the fear of sounding salesy. We’ve all experienced being sold to in a pushy, sleazy way, and it’s often quite an unpleasant experience.

To be frank, the techniques that make customers uncomfortable are often simply poor sales skills. Selling is meant to be an act of service enjoyed by both customer and provider. When selling is done correctly, both parties can actually enjoy the process. Here is the fourth tips to help make selling more enjoyable

4. Speak about them, not you.

At the end of the day, customers want to know how your product or service can affect them. That’s more important to them than hearing about how it has affected you. For instance, a customer will care much more about how a face wash will clear their acne rather than how it cleared yours. Remember this simple point when you’re engaging in conversations with potential clients, and be sure to keep the focus on them.

2. Listen more than you speak.

There’s a reason we have two ears and one mouth. Make sure you’re listening to your potential clients more than you’re speaking to them. If you focus on asking open-ended questions and then listening to their responses, you may often find that they talk themselves into why they may need or want what you’re offering. Listening more is a powerful way to not only build a rapport with clients but also help them see that you’re coming from a place of service, not a place of only wanting to make a sale..

When selling is done correctly, both parties can actually enjoy the process. Here are five tips to help make selling more enjoyable.

1. Connect first.
When it comes down to it, selling is all about relationships. When you take the time to connect with someone before you share your offers, it shows a genuineness that customers are often drawn to. Nothing feels worse than when it seems as if someone only cares about your money, so make sure you don’t make your potential clients feel like that. The most important part of the sales process is the rapport building — don’t skip over it.Some of my favorite ways to connect and build a rapport with clients are active listening and asking open-ended questions. Active listening requires you to give your client your undivided attention and let them know that they have it. You can use nonverbal cues such as nodding your head when they’re speaking to let them know that you’re fully invested in what they’re saying. Open-ended questions are those that require answers that are more thorough than “yes” or “no.” These types of questions invite your clients to be open with you, which can help build a connection and encourage them to like and trust you. (Face 2face interaction)
For phone conversation you should always listen to their complains and help them Slove it first without asking them to get your offers it makes them trust you and want to buy from you.
