STRIKING VERSES - *(StVe 11)*

*"And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:* *And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him"* (Gen. 5:23-24).

I was truck with amazement, the first time I noticed that, Enoch, the man that worked with God, had the shortest lifespan in his generation. Then, my mind went round, only to discover that evil people seem to live longer than people considered to be better than they.

As I was still pondering, I came across Psa. 73, where Asaph, was also lamenting about the prosperity of the wicked. I was glad that I was not alone, yet I was not satisfied: does it mean that wickedness pays - I wondered? Then, I was led to Isa. 57:1, which says:

*" The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come."*

Wow! It was after studying and meditating upon this scripture that my soul found rest! I remembered the story of a faithful and dedicated young fellowship Sister, who died and the Brethren in fellowship couldn't bear it. They continued to cry unto God to return her to life until God did. The story had it that the same Sister later turned to sinful lifestyle to the bewilderment of the Brethren!

Now, if the fellowship members had known this truth, perhaps, they would have allowed her to go home in peace. But many of us today seem not to have known this reality, when we look at how people envy the wicked and lament over the faithful and righteous Brethren going home to meet the Lord, earlier than expected

Our prayer should always be that the Lord would reveal to us our purpose in live, help us to serve and finish well, before we go home. Paul said, he would have preferred to go home and be with Christ, but for the unfinished work in his hands. Even us, if the Lord would show us where Christ is, none of us would want to remain in this dying and miserable world for a second!

May the Lord give us understanding in all things, and help us to finish well before we go home, in the Mighty name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen!

[1] Truly God is good to Israel, Even to such as are of a clean heart. [2] But as for me, my feet were almost gone; My steps had well nigh slipped. [3] For I was envious at the foolish, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. [4] For there are no bands in their death: But their strength is firm. [5] They are not in trouble as other men; Neither are they plagued like other men. [6] Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; Violence covereth them as a garment. [7] Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish. [8] They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: They speak loftily. [9] They set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walketh through the earth. [10] Therefore his people return hither: And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. Many times, events around us confuse us, we wonder at behaviours, events, evil, hurt, from close by and from afar.
The passage highlights the importance of coming into the presence of God, at those perplexing times. That's the best place to be. There we receive clarity, understanding and our hurt is cleared up.

Salvation Prayer

*"LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.* *Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him",*

There's no doubt that we're face to face with perilous times, (2 Tim. 3:1), and the world is currently experiencing what Christ described as the beginning of sorrows, (Mat. 24:8). Again, in many Nations today, the Church or Christians are facing existential threats, ranging from hatred, persecution to genocide. And thereby fulfilling our Lord's words: that we're going to be hated by all nations, (Mat. 24:9), and that time shall come when those that kill us may think they do God service, (Jon. 16:2). Sadly, it's now globally acknowledged that the Church in our own country, Nigeria, ranks the worst persecuted Church in the world!

Brethren, this is not the time for casual or lazy prayer! This is time for all manner of effectual fervent prayer that availeth much, (2 Tim. 2:2-3, Jms. 5:16). As the scriptures put it, *"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;",* (Eph. 6:18).

Yes, it's our responsibility to know the devices of the enemy and pray but that must be done without fear, because we're already more than conquerors! (Rom. 8:37).

May the Lord answer all our prayers as we pray for our dear country and the church 🙏

We are what we are today only because of God’s grace.

STRIKING VERSES - *(StVe 10)*

*"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. *But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.",* (Mat. 6::6-7).

In one of my videos, l clearly stated that most Christians love to pray but only a few, really, know how to pray effectively. In Lk. 11:1, one of Christ's disciples asked Him to teach them to pray as John the Baptist taught his own disciples. Amazingly, Christ did not hesitate! That's why I humbly made bold to say that prayer is an Art that ought to be taught and learned! Sadly many of our Christian leaders don't know this, leading to a situation whereby they only lead their wards to pray.

As Christ began to teach us how to pray, in Mat. 6:6-7, above, one can easily spot a lot of errors in our prayer lives today. For instance, many Christians believe in prayer showmanship, most of us believe in multitude of words, especially, what today's Christmas call praying/speaking in tongues. Apart from Christ's warnings, Ecc. 5: 2 warned that when we come before God, we shouldn't speak anyhow: that our words must be few.

The question now is, why do Christians disobey or ignore all these warnings and still believe they would be heard? Again, how can Christians ignore all the corrections made by Paul in 1Cor. 14, concerning speaking/praying in tongues, and still expect God to listen to their chants? Unfortunately, most Christians do not even track our prayer points to know if God has responded, as the Psalmist did, (Psa. 85:8). Many erroneously believe that it's only when they receive what they asked for that God has answered. They forget that God's answer can be "No" or "my grace is sufficient for you!" Perhaps, that's why many of us have unnecessary additional prayer points.

Fellow Brethren, we can now see the need for us to learn how to pray effectively and get results. In this platform, our major task is not only to intercede, but also to teach and learn how to pray effectively, especially, in our closet or secret place, just as Christ has revealed. That's why we give room to, as many as can, to lead us in prayer. That's why you're expected to create time to attend our meetings always. As we sincerely come, the Lord will surely bless us, in Jesus name. Amen!
