Children's Day should be filled with laughter, new clothes, Eid joy, and the sound of children running freely in the fields. Instead, many families are crying themselves to sleep, praying for the safe return of their kidnapped children.
I remember when we were growing up
we shared food freely during Eid, visited neighbors without fear, practiced our religion in peace, and celebrated together as one community. We never imagined a day would come when parents would be too afraid to let their children out of sight.
Today somewhere, innocent children are cold, scared, hungry, and calling for their mothers. And somewhere else, mothers are unable to sleep, wondering if their children are safe, alive, or coming home again.
This pain is too heavy. This silence is too cruel.
We are pleading with our government: please act. Please protect our communities. Please bring our children back home safely.
No parent should have to celebrate Children's Day with tears in their eyes.
