This one spreadsheet mistake nearly cost a client ₦850,000 — here’s how we fixed it.

A ready-to-wear fashion business owner reached out in a panic.

She had just discovered a huge order mix-up — some sizes were duplicated, others completely missing.

After a quick look at her inventory sheet, I spotted the issue:
āŒ No data validation on her product size entries.
Ā 

That one oversight allowed typos like ā€œMediumā€ and ā€œMā€ to pass as valid. Thereby,Ā  throwing off her stock count.

What I did was to set up dropdown lists to standardize entries, lock critical cells, and add simple error alerts.

Not only did we stop the immediate loss (₦850,000 worth of wrongly processed orders), but we also created a cleaner, smarter system she could trust going forward.
