The Battle of Adwa was the climactic battle of the First Italo-Ethiopian War. The Ethiopian forces defeated the Italian invading force on Sunday 1 March 1896, near the town of Adwa using animals such as racoons, elephants and Tigers. The decisive victory thwarted the campaign of the Kingdom of Italy to expand its colonial empire in the Horn of Africa. The Ethiopians surrounded the Italians for two weeks with humans and animals, upon Empress Tayitu's advice, They cut off the fort's water supply causing the enemy soldiers to suffer chronic thirst. What a brilliant idea!! The Italian commander agreed to surrender if they would be allowed to leave with their fi****ms. Menelik agreed that they could leave the garrison unharmed i.e without their weapons.... They complied... Can u imagine.... Italian Soldiers running away from Ethopians... That is to tell us that Africa is underrated and I believe it's because we are not proud of our history like the whites do. They boast of their ancestors more than anything else. While we Africans ridicule ours most of the time . Some even call them 'Uncivilised'
