Peter Obi rejected Oil Blocks, ₦700M pension, Abuja land and advised that such frauď against the people should be scrapped
For decades, Nigerians have watched politicians leave office and suddenly become owners of mansions, private jets, oil blocs, luxury convoys, and endless government benefits funded by taxpayers who can barely afford food.
That is why the story of Peter Obi continues to trigger intense emotions across the country.
To millions of Nigerians, especially frustrated youths, Obi represents something they rarely see in Nigerian politics — a politician constantly associated with prudence, accountability, and personal sacrifice instead of reckless wealth accumulation.
Supporters of the former Anambra State governor often point to several incidents they believe separate him from the traditional political class.
One of the biggest claims repeatedly circulated by his supporters is that former President Goodluck Jonathan reportedly considered Peter Obi trustworthy enough to offer him an oil bloc and prime lands in high-value areas of Abuja during his time in government circles — privileges many politicians would never reject.
But according to the narrative often shared by Obi loyalists, he allegedly turned both offers down.
For many Nigerians, that alone sounds unbelievable in a political environment where public office is often viewed as a gateway to personal enrichment.
Yet that was not all.
Peter Obi also reportedly rejected the controversial ex-governors pension package worth hundreds of millions of naira, believed to be around ₦700 million in benefits, allowances, properties, vehicles, and lifetime upkeep funded by citizens.
Instead of quietly collecting the money like many politicians do, Obi openly argued that such pension schemes were immoral and should be scrapped entirely because ordinary Nigerians were already suffering under poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and inflation.
His supporters often compare this decision with several top politicians who still reportedly benefit from multiple government payouts years after leaving office.
Critics of the current political system frequently mention former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who reportedly spent only a brief period as governor of Adamawa State before becoming vice president under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yet is still associated with ex-governor pension benefits.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also repeatedly faced public criticism over reports surrounding Lagos State pension entitlements for former governors while serving as Nigeria’s president.
To Obi supporters, the contrast is impossible to ignore.
During Peter Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala publicly praised the state’s economic growth and fiscal management, with supporters frequently quoting claims that Anambra’s GDP significantly increased under his leadership.
Unlike many state governments drowning in debt, Obi became known for emphasizing savings, prudent spending, investment in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, while avoiding what supporters describe as wasteful borrowing and extravagant governance.
His administration reportedly renovated schools, improved learning facilities, supported mission schools, upgraded hospitals, and focused heavily on human capital development.
Many Nigerians also remember how Obi faced fierce political battles during his time in office.
He was impeached amid intense conflicts with political opponents, with supporters alleging that powerful interests were frustrated by his refusal to cooperate with inflated budgets and political patronage systems.
Yet despite the impeachment battles, he returned to office through court rulings — not once, but twice — further strengthening the image many supporters have of him as a politician who resisted political intimidation and systemic corruption.
Even after leaving office, Obi continues to attract attention because of his consistent involvement in charity, education, and healthcare support across Nigeria.
Videos regularly surface online showing him donating to schools, visiting hospitals, supporting students, empowering communities, and contributing personal funds to humanitarian causes without occupying public office.
For his supporters, this is where the frustration becomes emotional.
They argue that in a sane society, a politician with no major corruption conviction, no widely proven history of treasury looting, no reputation for vote-buying, and no record of extravagant abuse of office should naturally be celebrated.
Instead, they say he is mocked as “weak,” “stingy,” or “not fit to rule.”
To many young Nigerians, that reaction exposes a deeper crisis within the country’s political culture — a system where aggressive money politics, godfatherism, vote-buying, and public display of wealth are often mistaken for leadership strength.
In their view, Peter Obi’s rise has become bigger than ordinary politics.
It has become a symbol of a growing battle between old-style Nigerian politics built on patronage and a younger generation demanding accountability, transparency, competence, and responsible leadership.
Whether people love him or hate him, one thing remains clear:
Peter Obi has forced millions of Nigerians to ask a painful question:
Has Nigeria become so used to corruption that integrity now looks suspicious?

“You begged me to return to your sțupıď house after humiłiating me online” – Angel continues explosive exposé against ex-husband over betrayal and her mother’s arrest
Reality TV star Angel has continued her emotional outburst on Snapchat, revealing more shocking details about the collapse of her marriage and the events that allegedly pushed her to finally walk away.
In a series of emotional posts, Angel accused her ex-husband of repeatedly disrespecting her boundaries, humiliating her publicly, manipulating situations against her, and involving the police over financial disagreements, despite allegedly begging her to return after their divorce was already signed.
According to Angel, she constantly tolerated painful situations because of the responsibilities she carries as the breadwinner of her family and the fear of starting life over in a foreign country without support.
“How did you want me to perform girlfriend responsibilities while your ex was still actively living with you while you claimed to date me?” she wrote.
Angel went on to accuse her ex of hypocrisy and double standards, claiming she was constantly criticized for simple actions while her partner allegedly behaved freely with friends in ways that made her uncomfortable.
“So many boundaries you pushed and expected me to be okay with. Tumi can kiss her friends, rub up on their breasts, post it, but Angel can’t go out.”
The reality star insisted she was transparent throughout the relationship and denied allegations that she tried to use her ex for immigration papers.
“I was so honest, so upfront — truly the healthiest I’ve ever been with anyone. You tell everyone I used you for papers… where? You offered it to me so many times and I turned it down.”
She further claimed that despite refusing to file a VAWA petition, her ex allegedly continued portraying her negatively online while privately begging her to return.
“After you came and humiliated me online, you still came to BEG ME to come back to your stupid house. Asked me to wear the ring back after I signed the divorce.”
Angel also accused her ex of lying about financial matters and allegedly involving the police after claiming she refused to repay money.
“You lied that Tobi said I was never going to give you your money and got the police to come harass me.”
Addressing another woman identified as Ruth, Angel stated that she never had malicious intentions toward her and only wanted mutual respect, despite the complicated history involving her ex.
“All I wanted was to be respected… I am a grown woman, I will not be silly over another woman.”
She alleged that her mental health suffered because of the continued relationship between her ex and a former partner, claiming boundaries were repeatedly crossed.
“I asked her to cut off contact with you because you were both toxic towards each other and it was impacting me mentally.”
Angel further accused her ex of infidelity, claiming her partner kissed another person during a wedding and later tried to deny it despite witnesses allegedly seeing everything.
“YOU KISSED someone else on the night of the wedding and got the person who is your friend to deny it even though my friend Nini saw you.”
The emotional posts also touched on financial struggles and sacrifices Angel says she made silently while trying to rebuild her life.
“I blame myself for persevering, not because of myself but because of my family. I kept thinking of what my life would be like here without her. I am the breadwinner, I have people to take care of.”
According to Angel, despite everything, she quietly moved on, bought her own car, furnished her new place, started taking courses, and focused on rebuilding herself without speaking publicly.
“I left, I bought my own car, bought things for where I lived, started learning a course AND kept quiet.”
Her biggest frustration, however, appears to be the alleged involvement of her mother in the ongoing dispute.
“She needs to leave my mother alone… picking up my mum for something you bought me and is in my name is insane. Leave the woman alone.”
Angel’s emotional revelations have since sparked intense reactions online, with social media users divided over the messy breakdown of the relationship, public accusations, and the growing controversy surrounding both parties.
