MY EXPERIENCE: WEEK 2 OF THE BIG BRODA MENTORING PROGRAM✅

Last week Wednesday, the Big Broda Mentoring Program kicked off, and I am grateful to have been chosen as one of the facilitators for this 5-week in-school leadership and mentoring journey put together by JCI Ikeja.

Today, I had the privilege of facilitating a session at llupeju Senior Grammar School, and the focus was on Entrepreneurship. I particularly loved this topic because it gave so much room for interaction. Many of the students could relate to it, since some of their parents are entrepreneurs, selling items such as shoes, underwear, cooked food, and more.

I also shared part of my own story. Growing up, my mom was into business, and I often assisted her with market runs—buying tomatoes and pepper at Mile 12, fresh fish from the cold room or at Ijora. Sometimes we smoked the fish, sometimes we left it fresh, because people had different preferences. Some loved it fresh, others preferred smoked. It was heartwarming to see the students nod along, and even more exciting when some of them shared their own experiences of helping their mothers at the shop.

The class activity was a highlight for me. The students were given a chance to tick traits they believe every entrepreneur should have. This simple exercise opened their eyes to what makes entrepreneurship work beyond just the word itself. It no longer felt like a “big fancy word” to them, but something they could see, touch, and even relate to through their own lives.

We also had a fun brainstorming session where students came up with business names, identified their target customers, and practiced how to talk about their products or services. Watching their creativity unfold in such a practical way was truly inspiring.

It was a fulfilling session, one that left me feeling connected not just to the students, but also to their stories and dreams. I want to sincerely appreciate the staff of Illupeju Senior Grammar School for their cooperation and warm hospitality, and most especially the students for their energy and openness.

It's reception time! A time to dance, eat, and celebrate a life well spent. My mother-in-law touched many lives in the community and church, inspiring countless souls. I'm grateful to everyone who documented memories for me - I was overwhelmed and I appreciated your thoughtfulness.

Special thanks to fellow photographers who joined us to celebrate her life. Your presence, support, and well-wishes mean everything.

Thank you for showing up physically, financially, and morally. May God bless you all abundantly! 🙏🏻❤️

Thank you so much, Mummy for the kind invitation. 💜

It was truly an inspiring and eye-opening experience, listening to powerful stories of women battling fibroids and how they found strength through it all.

I’m grateful for this incredible initiative that encourages us to learn, unlearn, and relearn.

May God continue to strengthen you and bless you with the wisdom to keep leading this important conversation.

It was such a joy reconnecting with you again, and yes, I love your voice! 😍🎙️

With love always,

Douye Mercy💜💜💜
