PARTICIPATION OF THE INSTITUTION CADET CORPS OF NIGERIA (ICCON), ALPHA COMPANY, YABA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE COMMISSIONING OF SOMOLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

On Tuesday, 9th July 2025, a Guard of Honour was proudly mounted by the Institution Cadet Corps of Nigeria (ICCON), Alpha Company, Yaba College of Technology, in honor of Her Excellency, Senator Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu (CON), First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was ably represented by the Wife of the Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, during the commissioning of newly completed infrastructure projects in Somolu Local Government Area.

The projects commissioned include;

- Somolu Council Secretariat
- Somolu Local Government Legislative Building
- Somolu Local Government Police Station
- Somolu Local Government Fire Service Station

The Alpha Company of ICCON, representing Yaba College of Technology, the first higher institution in Nigeria, was notably recognized at the event. The disciplined presence and professional parade of the cadets added both prestige and ceremonial grandeur to the occasion.

Hajia Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, who represented the First Lady, was escorted by the Commanding Officer of the Corps, Cadet Major A.D. Folorunso, to inspect the Guard of Honour. During the inspection, she commended the cadets, expressing her admiration to both the Commanding Officer and the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Hazmat.

In their speeches, Hajia Fatima Abbas Tajudeen and Mrs. Oluremi Hazmat jointly applauded the cadets of ICCON, Alpha Company, for their discipline and parade excellence, emphasizing that their presence significantly beautified and dignified the commissioning ceremony of the ultra-modern Somolu Local Government Secretariat.
