Dangote Announces New Petrol Price

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed loading petrol at its gantry in naira, reversing its earlier decision to sell the product in U.S. dollars.

The refinery has also announced a new ex-depot price of ₦1,215 per litre, representing a ₦140 increase from the previous price of ₦1,075 per litre.

Previously, the refinery had switched to dollar-denominated sales, fixing the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at $0.779 per litre. That move effectively ended the naira pricing system introduced under the Federal Government’s naira-for-crude policy.

At the time, the refinery also revised the benchmark prices for diesel and aviation fuel, marking a significant change in its pricing strategy.

As Nigeria’s largest producer of refined petroleum products with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery’s pricing decisions have a major impact on the country’s deregulated downstream petroleum market.

The refinery has now abandoned the dollar sales model and returned to selling petrol to local marketers in naira.

Still on the alleged fake agency in Nigeria’s 🇳🇬 budget, if these claims are confirmed, it would represent a very serious issue.

Reports indicate that an organization known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which the government later described as unauthorized, was reportedly allocated about ₦1.3 billion in the federal budget and even assigned office space in Abuja.

Authorities have filed criminal charges, including forgery and impersonation, against individuals linked to the matter. Meanwhile, the Presidency has denied any involvement and says it has ordered a full investigation into the allegations.
