Amina sat in the dimly lit apartment, her fingers drumming nervously on the edge of the table.
The papers that had once felt like a weight in her hands now seemed insignificant compared to the choices ahead.
The documents were only the beginning of her father’s secrets—secrets that were pulling her into a world of violence, deceit, and power struggles she had never imagined.
Kunle sat across from her, his eyes scanning her face, trying to gauge her thoughts. He knew Amina was struggling, but he also knew there was no turning back. The cartel’s grip on her was tightening with each passing moment.
“Amina,” Kunle said softly, breaking the silence, “you’ve got to understand—there’s no safe place for you anymore. You can’t hide from this. If you try to run, they’ll come after you. And they’ll come for everyone you love.”
Amina’s eyes hardened. “I don’t care about hiding anymore. I care about finding out the truth. I have to know why my father did this. Why he made these choices. I need to know who I can trust.”
Kunle nodded, his jaw set in determination. “And I’ll be by your side until the end. But remember, trust isn’t something you hand out easily in this world. Everyone has an agenda.”
Just then, the sharp knock on the door broke their conversation. Amina’s heart skipped a beat. Who could it be? The man from the cartel? Or someone more dangerous?
Kunle stood up, his hand hovering near his waist where he kept his weapon. “Stay behind me,” he whispered, his voice tense. Amina nodded, a chill running through her as she stood, pressing herself against the wall.
Kunle cautiously approached the door and peered through the peephole. His face darkened.
“It’s him,” he said, his voice barely a whisper. “Tunde.”
Amina’s stomach tightened. What did he want now? What more could they possibly demand?
Kunle opened the door slowly, his body blocking Amina from view. Tunde stood on the other side, a sly smirk playing on his lips. He looked as though he had all the time in the world, as if this was some sort of twisted game to him.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything,” Tunde said, his tone smooth but dangerous. “But we need to talk. It’s about your father.”
Amina’s heart raced. This was it. The moment she had been waiting for—the moment that would reveal all the lies, the hidden truths, and the dark world her father had been a part of.
Kunle stepped aside, allowing Tunde to enter. Amina could feel the tension between them, thick enough to cut with a knife. She tried to steady her breathing as she sat back down, trying to keep her composure in front of this man who had been one of her father’s closest associates.
Tunde wasted no time. “You’re going to meet with the others,” he said, dropping a small folder onto the table. Amina stared at it, her pulse quickening. Inside, she knew, would be the next piece of the puzzle. “Your father’s debts are too large to ignore. And now, they are yours.”
Amina opened the folder with shaking hands. Her eyes scanned the documents inside—more records of illegal transactions, names she didn’t recognize, and a map of locations that her father had frequented. It was all starting to make sense now. Her father had owed far more than money. He had been involved in a far-reaching operation, one that spanned continents.
“Why are you telling me all this?” Amina asked, her voice low. “Why not just take me out like you’ve taken out everyone else who’s in your way?”
Tunde laughed, a dark, cold laugh that sent a shiver down her spine. “Because you’re special, Amina. You’re your father’s legacy. And there are some who want to use that. The only question is—will you let them?”
Kunle stepped forward, his expression hardening. “Enough games, Tunde. What do you want from her?”
Tunde held up his hands, feigning innocence. “All in good time, Kunle. All in good time. You see, Amina here has a role to play. She always has. Now, the real question is—will she play it? The deal her father made was for power, influence, and wealth. And now it’s her turn to finish what he started.”
Amina felt the weight of his words, his gaze piercing into her as if he were measuring her worth. It was a moment that would define everything. Did she have what it took to survive in this ruthless world? Or would she break under the pressure?
The decision wasn’t hers alone. The world her father had kept from her was now hers to inherit, whether she liked it or not.
“Tell me what I need to do,” Amina said, her voice steady, but her heart pounding in her chest. “I’ll play the game, but on my terms.”
Tunde’s smile widened, pleased with her response. “We’ll see, Amina. We’ll see.”
Amina’s world was getting smaller by the minute. The more she learned, the more she understood that there was no turning back. She had entered a game where only the strongest survived.
But could she trust herself to play it? let's see...

𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭𝟵: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗯 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀
Amina couldn’t shake the feeling that the walls were closing in on her. Each step she took felt like it echoed in the vast, uncharted silence that surrounded her.
The documents in her hands were heavy—more than just paper. They were the weight of her father’s sins, the burden of secrets he had never shared.
Secrets that now bound her to a world she never asked for.
Kunle walked beside her, his pace steady, but his eyes betraying the concern he tried to hide. He knew that once Amina stepped into this world, there would be no turning back. It was a game of survival, and only those willing to play it would make it out alive.
The city of Lagos sprawled around them, its lights flickering like distant stars, but Amina saw none of its beauty tonight.
Her mind was consumed by the choices she had to make. The deeper she went into this world, the harder it would be to remember who she used to be—the innocent girl who once dreamed of a normal life.
“You’re quiet,” Kunle said after a long silence, his voice breaking through her thoughts. “I know this is a lot to take in, but you’re not alone in this.”
Amina looked up at him, her face tired but determined. “I know you’re here for me, Kunle. But this isn’t just about me anymore. This is about my father, the things he did… and the things I have to do now.”
Kunle stopped walking and turned to face her, his expression serious. “Amina, this isn’t your burden to carry alone. It’s not about being perfect or making the right choices every time. It’s about surviving. And surviving means making hard decisions.”
Amina nodded, but a lump formed in her throat. She had always prided herself on being strong.
But how could she stand strong when everything she had ever known was a lie? Her father, the man who had raised her, had made decisions that had dragged them both into a world of crime. And now, she was expected to pick up the pieces.
Kunle placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “You’re stronger than you think. We’ll figure this out together.”
Just then, a black SUV pulled up beside them, its tinted windows reflecting the neon lights of the street.
The door opened, and a tall, imposing figure stepped out. Amina recognized him immediately—the man who had been part of her father’s world. He was one of the cartel’s most trusted enforcers.
His name was Tunde, and his reputation was enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.
“Tunde,” Amina said, her voice tight as she tried to mask the unease that rushed through her.
Tunde’s cold gaze met hers. “You’ve got what you need?” he asked, his voice low and steady, like the rumble of a distant storm.
Amina nodded, handing him the manila envelope. “Everything you need is in there.”
Tunde took the envelope without a word, flipping it open as he scanned the contents. For a moment, the only sound was the rustle of paper and the hum of the city around them. Amina’s heart pounded in her chest as she waited for his reaction.
“This is just the beginning, Amina,” Tunde finally said, his voice dark and devoid of emotion. “You’ve taken the first step. But it’s not enough. They want more. Your father’s ties to the cartel go deeper than you realize. The deal he made wasn’t just for money or power. It was for something much bigger. And now, it’s your turn to honor that deal.”
Amina swallowed hard, her throat dry. “What do you mean? What do you want from me?”
Tunde’s lips curled into a small, sinister smile. “You’ll know soon enough. But right now, we need to take action. There’s no room for hesitation. The people you’re dealing with aren’t the kind to wait around.”
Kunle stepped forward, his jaw set. “What’s next?”
Tunde glanced at him, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You, Kunle, need to stay out of this. You’ve done enough. This is Amina’s fight now. She’s the key.”
Amina’s chest tightened. She didn’t want this fight. She didn’t want to be the key to anything. She wanted to leave it all behind and go back to a life of peace and simplicity. But the reality of the situation was clear—she couldn’t escape. Not now. Not when the cartel’s eyes were on her.
“We’ll do what we have to do,” Amina said, her voice steady despite the fear that coiled in her stomach. “But I won’t be controlled by anyone. Not even by them.”
Tunde’s smile widened slightly, but it wasn’t a reassuring smile. It was a promise of things to come. “We’ll see, Amina. We’ll see how long you can hold onto that defiance. In this world, everyone has a price.”
With that, Tunde got back into the SUV, the door slamming shut behind him. The engine roared to life, and the vehicle sped off into the night, leaving Amina and Kunle standing in the silence of the street.
Kunle turned to Amina, his face filled with concern. “What now?”
Amina didn’t answer immediately. She watched the SUV disappear into the distance, the weight of the decision pressing down on her. Her life was no longer her own, and she had just taken the first step down a path that could lead to her destruction—or to something far darker.
“We move forward,” she said finally, her voice determined but hollow. “We have no choice.”
